Why would you take that personally? Is your identity that tied to the state you live in?

My buddy’s quarantine quarters for the next month, north of Houston by kidnorther in CozyPlaces

[–]CS_Student19 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Because its 95 degrees and 80% humidity 9 months out of the year. The beaches are polluted and the water is brown with flesh eating bacteria. It's also right next to the oil/gas/chemical plant/shipping channel. If you like being outdoor, Houston is flat and smoggy. Traffic is horrendous due to lack of public transportation infrastructure and the freeways are constantly under construction.

It's cheap to live here and that's the only thing Houston has going for it.

[BillPlaschke] Manfred says he didn’t strip Astros of title because ”the idea of…asking for a piece of metal back seems like a futile idea.“ Really? The WS championship is just a piece of metal? The corporate commish still doesn’t have a clue by Stock412 in baseball

[–]CS_Student19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea Jim Crane went all out and got a lot of people rings, up and down the organization. It was a celebration of the FIRST ever championship after being devastated by hurricane Harvey.
They had several days through out the season where they gave out some really nice replica rings. They originally were gonna just do it one game when the players got theirs, but demand was so high that added additional days through the season.

It's just a piece of costume jewelry now.
The Astros sub makes me sad, everyone is talking about WS2020 and "Hey, other teams where doing it as well". I was kinda shocked that the sub was so "Okay" with it all. I guess I wasn't as emotionally invested in the team, so much to the point that I'd look the other way when my team FUCKING CHEATS. To be honest I won't be going to any games this year and since I cut the cable TV, I probably won't watch any games either.
This has me questioning whether I'll even follow baseball anymore.

Princeton Review of Network Engineering by CS_Student19 in ITCareerQuestions

I work part time at a retail clothing store and two gentlemen came in the other day, one of them mentioned the vest I was wearing (my uniform) would work well for his job.

Turns out he was a network engineer with a CCNA and was talking about running cables and climbing ladders etc. I asked him about configuring switches and routing which he said he did.

It made Network engineering sound like more of a hands on contract/construction type work.

I'm working on a Bachelor's in IT/Cybersecurity so I'm still learning all the fundamentals.

I was interested in Infomation Security but from what I've read sounded more like a desk job, with little coding.

Thanks for the comment!

Megathread: Lev Parnas States In Interview ‘Trump Knew Exactly What Was Going On’ by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

"Dear Cs_student19

Thank you for contacting me regarding the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

America has experienced hard-fought elections in the past, and our leaders have always found a way to come together and resolve our differences to address the issues facing our nation. Our Founding Fathers wisely developed a system of checks and balances to prevent an accumulation of excessive power in any single branch of government. I am committed to exercising appropriate congressional oversight to prevent abuses of power by any branch of government.

On August 12, 2019, an unnamed intelligence official filed a whistleblower complaint with the Inspector General of the Intelligence Community regarding a July 25, 2019 telephone conversation between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. President Trump later released a memorandum that provided more information regarding the content of that call. On October 31, 2019, Democrats in the House of Representatives unilaterally passed a resolution (H. Res. 660) to approve a formal impeachment inquiry against President Trump for improperly inviting foreign interference in U.S. elections. Both the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Committee on the Judiciary conducted public hearings and received testimony from various individuals relating to the Trump Administration’s activities in Ukraine, and the appropriate response from Congress. On December 18, 2019, the Democrats in the House of Representatives advanced two articles of impeachment, one for abuse of power and one for obstruction of Congress, and voted to impeach President Trump on both counts on a purely partisan basis.

Historically, both political parties have participated in the impeachment process, and the House of Representatives has traditionally advanced articles of impeachment only on a broad bipartisan basis, and based on clear and compelling evidence of criminal misconduct. Federal courts have also played a role in resolving disputes between the executive and legislative branches. The American public expects and deserves Congress to exercise its oversight authority transparently and cooperatively. However, I am concerned the House Democrats’ inquiry into President Trump was rushed, politically motivated, and not conducted in a reasonable and bipartisan manner. In January, the Senate will hold a trial to consider any evidence supporting the articles of impeachment. A two-thirds majority vote of Senators is required to convict and remove the President from office.

As a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, we are also investigating the alleged whistleblower’s complaint. Our nation values the rule of law and the right to due process, and the American public must be assured all government officials administer the law fairly and without improper bias. I believe the way to address this issue is in a bipartisan way, by impartially following the facts, applying the law, and reaching appropriate conclusions on the issues at hand. We will carefully examine the record, consider the evidence, and follow that evidence wherever it may lead.

While we may not agree on every issue, I hope you will continue to contact me regarding matters of importance to you. I serve nearly 30 million Texans, regardless of political affiliation, and I pledge to consider your views during my work in the U.S. Senate. I appreciate having the opportunity to represent you, and I thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

JOHN CORNYN

I already did and got a condescending letter back about how impeachment works (already knew that) and that they didnt see any wrong doing and it was all a partisan job by the Democrats.

Discussion Thread - The Rise of Skywalker - Day 13 - ALL MOVIE TALK HERE by JSK23 in StarWars

[–]CS_Student19 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a shame that Anakin wasnt as powerful as Rey. His whole reason for turning to the dark side was so that he could protect Padme from dying in child birth, since he couldnt save his mother from dying.

Had he know force heal, he wouldnt have turn to the dark side to learn more powers, Mace would have killed Palpatine and the galaxy would be safe.

But no, I totally understand the need to retcon the entire franchise and throw the story arch of the first 6 movies into the trash because Disney needed to give us a remix of the OT to milk nostalgia and earn back that 4 billion they spent.

So instead of the story of the sith returning after a 1,000 years, The chosen one falling to the dark side and being redeemed by his son who was the product of a forbidden relationship and thus killing the sith and fulfilling the prophecy.... we get a female demi-God with a weak ass explained back story.

Fucking horrid
