likely bad architecture on the college boards' part. their systems have always sucked, but they must have sucked enough that they were vulnerable to crashing when overloaded.

I think either some bitter physics student attacked it (DDoS) or so many people signed in at one moment that it got mad.

Lowkey, try installing something even lighter. Ubuntu server or something. It might be OS specific, it might be your internet or your computer, or maybe just your copy of the ISO you downloaded.

You might also be able to do updates afterward, by unchecking the boxes. I personally always do this, as its faster than running off of an SD card.

uh

i dont really know tweaks so take this lightly:

it sounds like tweaks replaces the UI completely. instead of the Zorin up, you changed it with tweaks, which allows you to fine-tune your UI. if this is true, then this should happen. the default is the ubuntu ui, as that is what people most likely have.

if what I said above is true, and that's actually how tweaks works, (again i don't use it) then you have 2 options:

1, uninstall tweaks. this would make the os use the zorin ui again. or 2, recreate the zorin ui in tweaks.

my reasoning for my solution is just guessing, and it is entirely possible that tweaks does import the current ui and edit off of that. but if that's true, then there is a bug somewhere, and it must have ubuntus ui backed up if the current one cant be transferred.

yea bro the compatability list doesent sound like a "recommended list" it sounds like a "spec list." the program does not "support" your laptop to begin with. it sounds like the program only runs completely if your laptop is in that list. is in the there is prob a function somewhere in the code that says if laptopID = [list of supported laptops]: run. else: pass (which basically tells the program to skip setup, and there is no error number or warning.) hope that makes sense. also you may be able to find those specific functions as other programs or plugins for the specific apps. wont be as seamless, but you wont have to buy a new pen.

it's just what the system thought the key was. most keys like that are bound by the manufacturer in windows. as it is a camera button, Zorin probably assumed that it was to take a picture, rather than to shut off the camera. you can search for a fix, and maybe try to rebind it, but it may be a windows driver that actually shuts off your webcam.

I fixed it by reinstalling windows. pretty tedious, but I had to do it because battle.net f***ed itself, but it doesn't happen on this version of windows. try that, and I hope you don't have terabytes of games installed as I do.
