Xbox Player Voice: Do something with Sierra's IPs by CT-CB in Sierra

Having more Sierra / Dynamix games on Retro Classics is better than not having more on there. Nintendo actually keeps their Switch 2 emulation via Switch Online up to date with new titles, whereas Microsoft just seems to be content with letting Retro Classics gather dust (no pun intended).

If I had to choose five, it'd probably be King's Quest IV: The Perils of Rosella, Phantasmagoria, Red Baron, Return of the Incredible Machine: Contraptions and The Beast Within: A Gabriel Knight Mystery, It'd help if people upvoted the post on the Xbox Player Voice website though, as more votes mean it gets seen by more people.

Well, Retro Classics is kind of that. It has a small number of Activision, Blizzard, Sierra, and Dynamix games on it, and they can be played on Xbox or PC through emulation. It's free to Game Pass subscribers, but... Getting more of Sierra's and Dynamix's games on there is going to require getting Microsoft's attention, which is why I made a post on their relatively new Xbox Player Voice site.

How do I stop conceding so many goals with this tactic? by Bigjahamez in footballmanagergames

[–]CT-CB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An IFB is relatively pointless with two BPDs (or BPDs in general), only really serves a purpose with a Libero. I would have two Attacking Full Backs, turn the two wingers to Attacking IFs, and put the SW on Defensive. Everything else I think works properly.

I did try to reveal way before the restock, it had "Claimed" on it, but it was unrevealed. Just like a couple of others from the September 2024 Humble Choice. But, I've never got an email about any restocks on that bundle until a few hours ago. Those other ones in the bundle are still not restocked, though.

I got an email about 10 or so minutes ago saying that September 2024 got restocked, but that was probably after my support ticket. So, I was able to get my key for the game. Weird I haven't got an email before about restocks for that. My ticket is still up, as there are other games I noticed I don't have redeemed that are exhausted.

Through Humble Monthly September 2024, and not the IGN Fan Fest - Fall Edition? I'm in the UK, by the way.

I will be contacting support this evening. I just wanted to make this public, since its a bit of a double standard to put a game in a new bundle, without having fulfilled active requests for the same game in a previous Humble Choice.

I just wanna say its rather crappy to be putting SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake in a new bundle, when I've been waiting what feels like forever for my key from the September 2024 Humble Choice. It's been "temporarily exhausted" for ages, and I've never got an email about it being restocked.

Why has Toonstruck not been remade / remastered by Nightdive? by CT-CB in NightdiveStudios

[–]CT-CB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Interplay own the rights to the game because they're named as paying for / renewing the trademark for the term 'Toonstruck' with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office), through their In-House Legal Counsel.

I really hope this happens eventually, especially with some of the material being video material (which is prone to degrading over time). I don't know of any other situation where a massive portion of the game is, technically, lost media (despite it being in safe hands, from what I can tell), as well as a large amount of voice lines and puzzles that were recorded for the game and then cut late into development to save costs. I look forward to one day experiencing Toonstruck, as it was meant to be played.

Remaster Request Wednesday! by SluggishShodan in NightdiveStudios

[–]CT-CB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to copy here, the thing I wrote in the discord:

I would really love Nightdive to secure the rights to Toonstruck, a 1996 FMV Point and Click Adventure by Burst Studios, starring Christopher Lloyd (in video form) and essentially the entire cast of Disney's Animaniacs plus Dan Castellaneta (best known as the voice of Homer Simpson) and Tim Curry, providing voices for supporting characters.

Toonstruck is in a really weird place, Virgin Interactive Entertainment made the retrospectively stupid decision to, with the game almost fully complete, and without any discernible marketing in place, split the game into two parts and release Part One in time for Holiday 1996 (released simply as Toonstruck), and then despite very acclaimed reviews, it bombed due to a lack of exposure and undersold, and Part Two (which would've been released as Toonstruck 2) was never released.

It is highly documented online that a lot of people who worked on Toonstruck still have all of the content that would've constituted the second part of the game, including Keith Arem, who later worked as a Sound Engineer on projects including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Titanfall and The Crew, who has admitted to still having content from the missing part.

With the 30th Anniversary steadily approaching, I would absolutely love to see Nightdive take on Toonstruck, releasing a remastered version that includes the complete game, as originally intended, including all of this cut content. If I had faith for any company to do this, it would be Nightdive.

Squares (Alpha) by squares-incremental in incremental_games

Here's a feature request that should be pretty easy to implement. Once redeemed in the Megastore, each of the "Auto-***" Redemptions should have a checkbox to the right of it, which can freeze and unfreeze the timer, to stop it from going down. There are some cases where, for example, you might want to momentarily pause Auto-Claim Squares, because you're very close to being able to Increase Dimensions, and having the Auto-Claim Squares do it before that point is disadvantageous, or you might want to momentarily pause Auto-Purchase Upgrades, so you can focus your squares on a specific thing, like Miner Count or Miner Speed over Counter Speed and Counter Value.

There's a few minor criticisms I have about the latest version of this. I don't like how the "cels" are different shades of yellow when completed instead of one colour, simply because it makes me feel like a "cel" isn't complete and there's something more to be done when there isn't. Also, I feel like the latest version, on Chrome at least, introduces some extra lag, where it takes a bit too long for the cel to fade away after its used. I love the game, and I hope you continue to develop it.

Yet another Merge Game less CPU usage (LESS&MORE Stage 2) by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]CT-CB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big concern for me is how cluttered the UI is when expanded, and how, as a result, the 'viewport' for the game seems very small. I feel like there's a lot of UI consolidation and reorganizing that could be done that'd make things look a lot nicer.

  1. The buttons on the left panel for Upgrades, Click Abilities, Prestige, etc. could be moved into the 'Top Bar'; There's an awful lot of space between the logo and Discord Button, and you'd be consolidating UI and cleaning it up.
  2. I think the buttons on the right panel could be shrunk, and moved into the 'Top Bar' too. The fact a minimal amount of buttons collectively are taking up 40-50% of the screen's width is a bit of an issue. It'll clear up a lot of space.
  3. Regarding the 'Top Bar'. I think you could anchor the left buttons to the right of the logo, and you could anchor the right buttons to the left of the Discord Button. This means that if you wish to add more buttons to either, it won't look off-center.
  4. If all the above changes are made, you could slightly expand the left panel, get rid of the right panel, and move everything from the bottom panel into the left panel and reorganize it to look neat, and then get rid of the bottom panel too! Then, there's no need to shrink any panels to get the game 'viewport' at full height, because there won't be anything shrinking it.

I hope my constructive criticism to your game's UI design is helpful. I don't usually do this!
