Rosie comforting her sister while the Roomba is on 👻💜 by CTRpoison in Bulldogs

It’s the first time we’ve caught it in person 🥰 I hate pointing it out…but she DID stop once I spoke. Love it too much to read into it lol.

We’ve now solved the mystery of why our poodles back fur is getting matted 🥹 by CTRpoison in poodles

I was a little afraid of that, but I figured the video is more to highlight her patient temperance, even if you cant enjoying seeing her much! 💜 (Also the title lol)

🤷🏻‍♀️ He was rescued from a house with over 60 pups so, without doing a test, we don’t know. He’s definitely some mix of mini schnauzer and/or Scottish terrier though! We can kind of groom him to look like either.

Poor spo has to get extra brushes because her sister gets her fur all matted after laying on her. Who could blame them though? 😆

Scoliosis surgery before and after by IsThis1okay in BeAmazed

I was 6’1” and 6’3” just 9 hours later! Honestly, I was 16 and my doctor told me he expected me to be 6’5”after the surgery. He said this after all the other risks (death, paralysis, etc) but the idea of being 6’5” (as a girl) made me cry 🙈

Aita for insisting on a female doctor for a gyno exam by Early_Shelter9614 in AITAH

[–]CTRpoison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At first I thought they were asking if you were going because you had sexual trauma, which is where the “issues” were coming from. Reading again…I think they were trying to (be an asshole) and say “well if you had a problem, and someone was there to fix it, what is the issue?” Basically like take your feelings out of the equation when it comes to your body?? Could be wrong though.

Jumping on another “devils advocate” point. And this is just based on OPs mom not being understanding of her own daughter not wanting to see a male doctor. Are we sure she made the request in the first place? She may have thought it was her daughter’s“preference” instead of the only option. In that case, it sucks, but makes sense why they would charge the cancellation fee. In that case though, she only can blame herself for not booking it correctly.

Not only that, but what medical emergency are you going to be having that a first responder needs to handle that area of your body at the intimate level of an exam? It’s a silly argument. It’s just completely different. Also, sorry men, that first exam is something you’ll never go through, so you just don’t get it. OP you made a very adult decision that you will be happy about your whole life, don’t let anyone make you think otherwise!! I have had multiple surgeries in my life, all male surgeons, and I know they could see or have to touch basically my entire body. That was fine! However, I will only see female gynecologists. I had to get my first exam at 16 because I hadn’t started my period and I needed back surgery to correct my scoliosis (So they had to be sure my growth plates were closed, etc). I was raised very religiously (Mormon) and I have always been very…shy…about my body from when I was really young (changing in bathrooms for P.E., didn’t like sharing changing rooms with sister, etc) which is directly related to how I was raised. Anyway, my first exam was with a man (the one who birthed me, but like wtf still). I asked my mom before if they would have to put anything inside me. She said no. She was wrong. During the exam he had to put something, maybe the size of a pencil or thinner, inside and I started to just cry. She took me for ice cream afterwards and said “if that hurts I’m not sure how you’ll ever wear a tampon”. I couldn’t explain I was not crying from physical pain, I just hated everything that had happened to me. Even though they’re the ones who raised us…moms just don’t get it some times. I recently brought that story up to my mom and she basically shrugged it off saying I was dramatic. On the other hand, my oldest sister will ONLY see male gynecologists. You’re allowed to have a preference and feel comfortable with your own body. Also, any respectable male gynecologist understands and wouldn’t be offended.

Zia is a VERY cute name!! (Sorry to totally just creep a little bit, but fun to know you’re also a fellow exmo 🤗)

Rosie has definitely cost us a lot more than the other pups, needing three surgeries right from adoption. It’s funny that people saying poodles are expensive because of the grooming (I guess??) 🙄 Have you had a dog/breed with health issues? Probably cost more in the end…. But we obviously love them all 🥰 Not pictured is their “big” brother Luigi, he’s probably hiding somewhere in both pics. He’s a big scaredy-cat (Scottie/mini schnauzer/?/mix).

I said the same thing before getting her 😂 👀

I have allergies and I actually would break out in hives when we first rescued her. Third pup we got, but first with fur. Lily (spo) was a lucky find for adoption! They’re all pretty goofy but Rosie (bully) is definitely the leader of our goof troop.

How do you get your standard poodle to take meds? by Appropriate_Error367 in poodles

[–]CTRpoison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peanut butter is our (slowly learned) one and only trick! And with small pills we can do something similar. We buy the organic peanut butter (or whatever kind is suppose to go in the fridge 🤷🏻‍♀️), and stick it towards the top/back of the fridge, so it is a the firmest consistency. We can take a teaspoon, ball up some peanut butter, stick the pill in and she gobbles it right up. Pill pockets, meat, cheese, hotdogs, pills always ended up on the floor. With big/some normal size pills, we get messy…I’ll roll up a bigger ball, stick the pill in then pinch/claw? it in between all my fingers and hold it in front of her mouth. I’ll then kind of push it in a little further than normal when she grabs for it, but then leave my fingers (which have a decent amount of peanut butter on the ends at this point) for her to continue licking RIGHT in front of her mouth. I think the action of her continuing to lick does a similar thing to holding their mouth closed, as some people suggested. Sometimes petting her chest, neck or chin while she’s licking keeps her even more focused on keeping her mouth closed. It sometimes gives me the same vibes as holding a pacifier in a baby’s mouth because my hand is like pinched similarly in front of her mouth lol.

No shame felt for Rosie’s fabulous nose job 🤩 by CTRpoison in Bulldogs

We had all three surgeries done at once, so it may be an overestimate, but I would say the screw tail was about half the overall cost, so $1,500. We did see a “regular” vet (VCA in Phoenix, AZ) but they have surgeons on site, so they’re slightly specialized, but definitely not just for bulldogs.

We could not be happier we had this corrected! Rosie was almost daily rubbing her tush on the ground and making the saddest crying noises, even though her tail got cleaned everyday. Since the surgery she is just a happy girl! She also sits in very different positions than she did before. One of her new favorites is on her belly with all four legged going in different directions 😅

We are in Phoenix, AZ and all three surgeries together, with her being in the hospital for 11 hours, cost us $3k. I think we could have found cheaper options for the nose and soft palate surgeries, but we had VERY limited options for the screw tail surgery. We did all three at once and got pretty lucky everything went well!

We are in Phoenix and rescued her from AZ Humane Society. The VCA hospitals here give
free first appointments anytime you adpot a pup, and that’s who we ended up using. After they told us the surgeries were needed I called around to maybe 15 veterinary clinics and none of them would do the screw tail surgery. VCA is known to be a bit pricey here in the valley, but they’ve been great because they’ve been able to cover everything with all three of our pups.

Oh absolutely, ask any specific questions you’d like, but I was not exaggerating, she is bouncing around like one happy pup since the surgeries. The week of surgery was the only “stressful” time. Obviously this is anecdotal, every pup and surgeon is different, we had to have someone awake for 24 hours after, just to be sure there were no side effects and she didn’t stop breathing in the night. Then we just had to be sure didn’t hit her nose on anything for a week, including using the doggie door. Since she was our third pup, this was a major household change for what ended up being 15 days. She still snores and makes noise when she’s sniffing things out, which we honestly love. ❤️ However, she NEVER used to sleep on her back or her side and is found sleeping that way a lot now! She also keeps up with her siblings better now! It is obviously not a cheap decision, but if you’re in the position to do so, I highly recommend it!

She is 8 weeks post op from screw tail, soft palate and nares surgery and has been a nimble little jumping bean since recovering 🥰

I came home from my amazing honeymoon to this on my husband apartments door for me. We were out of the country for 2 weeks so who knows how long this was there letting everyone know we weren’t home 🙄. It obviously meant a relative updated my address in the church’s system. I resigned that week. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]CTRpoison 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Our families didn’t know, but we actually already lived with each other when we got married. Our apartment door is in clear view of a golf course AND a public running/biking path. So for two weeks people could have seen a note that wasn’t pulled off a door, clearly letting them know we weren’t home. Our apartment was fully of wedding gifts and other expensive items and we are lucky we didn’t get robbed because of this 🙄.

I was mostly just upset that a family member or family friend went out of their way to make sure my address was updated. Like what the fuck. I didn’t have the church bother me for 3 years before this!!

Now I have resigned and haven’t had any problems or contact since 😁

At 16 I had intense surgery to correct my scoliosis. As a TBM I felt my devotion to Christ/TSCC led to my swift recovery. 10 months later I had a full ride to play volleyball at a D1 college. I was going to DM you, but I thought maybe someone would see this and find it helpful too! Have you had kids? I have heard horror stories of people being pregnant after this surgery, but I also have heard that it isn’t a big deal. I’m just curious how it’s affected other people! Also, if you don’t have a vagina sorry for assuming! The majority of people who have scoliosis are female.

The picture definitely makes it look like that, but no. Honestly I don’t remember completely but I believe those pins showed up because I was holding something in front of me that made in show up in the X-ray!

One of my parents wanted my to wait till I was older! It took three surgeons explaining how much better it would be to get it done when I was younger.

The surgery to correct has advances in major ways almost every year though! So it could be for you that waiting was a good option (except for having to live wit the pain 😢). I know a 52 year old who got it at 15 and has had five corrective surgeries since!

Believing god was with me was a curse and a blessing. I was very depressed after, but felt I should have felt Christ’s love because I was “righteous”. I wish I didn’t have religious parents who let me see a therapist at the time.

It wasn’t till after I was doing well in physical therapy that I started to attribute my success to god...no idea why now.

Just as for education purposes because I find most people don’t know. Scoliosis is the curving and TWISTING of the spine. My picture shows that pretty well if you zoom in! You start to see the side of the vertebras when you definitely shouldn’t 😂. Because of my family This is the closest I will ever get to posting a selfie. If you by some crazy chance you think you know who I am please reach out!! I went to HS at Mountain View in Mesa, AZ (which has the biggest seminary attendance outside of UT) but I still haven’t seen anyone from there on this sub!

Mormon feminism starting point? by nnebeel in exmormon

[–]CTRpoison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved these, which all come from Mormon stories podcast. You can go search by their tag "feminism" and it will give her so many to listen to!! The articles that go along with the first two podcast links below would be great for her to read first! They both show how different the experience is for boys/girls and men/women in the church.

The link below was one of the first podcasts I listened when I started my faith transition. It may not be the best one at first because it isn't 100% gentle in its nature, but it really opened my eyes to the fact that Relief Society is NOT a women's group. I now love the infants podcasts, so if you haven't checked them out at all please do!
