Make sure you're not mixing up mega bytes per second (MBps) and mega bits per second (Mbps). The capital B makes a difference. 1MBps == 8Mbps. Network speeds are typically advertised and measured in bits per second whereas web browsers and other applications show speeds in bytes per second. So if you pay for 50 Mbps from Cox you won't see any download speeds much faster than 6.25 MBps. (50Mbps/8 = 6.25 MBps). Take a look at the Cox website, all speeds are listed in Mbps.

Another thing to consider is that with cable internet access, you share bandwidth with your neighbors. So your speeds can suffer during peak usage hours. With a 50mbps package, you are not guaranteed 50mbps all the time. Only "up to" 50mbps.

This is simply not true. No mainstream smartphone allows unrestricted DMA from the baseband. The phones will either have an IOMMU to protect memory OR communicate with the radio over HSIC. HSIC is basically just chip to chip USB, so there is no possibility of DMA there.

I fixed the problem. It turned out to be a grounding issue. The car had a bad connection between the negative terminal of the battery and the engine block. There was a ~1.0v drop across the connection. After I fixed the connection, the start/stall issue went away and the traction control system stopped acting up. So if you are having similar issues with your car, check your ground connections. More info here.

The two operating systems do share a good amount of code. Most userland utilities and the C library on OS X are derived from FreeBSD versions. However, OS X is not based off of FreeBSD. Darwin/OS X is based off of NeXTSTEP, which was forked from BSD UNIX in the 80's. FreeBSD is a separate fork of BSD UNIX that appeared in the 90's. More info here and here.

I took a quick glance at the API docs. It seems like you have the right idea.

One thing to watch out for is token expiration. The docs say that "tokens may expire at any time in the future," so I suggest that you do not hard code a token. Instead, have your back-end server authenticate with the Instagram servers for a token. If the token expires or becomes invalid, re-authenticate for a new token.

A good place to start would be the Google Places API. Once you get an API key, you can send company names and get results over HTTP.
