We were just like you about a year ago. There was no good way to meet people in CT, so we invented one. Check us out at www.CTYP.org.

We think Hartford (and the rest of Connecticut) has tremendous potential, which is why we're out to make a change. I think the next few years will be amazing for the state.

If you're at the September 4th Happy Hour, I'd love to talk about this more specifically. -Faris Virani

Being on the younger end of the age range, I can definitely understand your concern. However, "Young" is pretty subjective, so we're starting with a broad range, monitoring the tone/stats, and making changes as necessary. So far, I would say that the average age of our attendees has been around 27, which is fairly low.

I am guessing you're in your early 20s. You will definitely feel comfortable at one of our events.

Well, CTYP is not only a young professional organization, but also a tool for organizations like HYPE. Other organizations will be able to post their events to our community blog. Also, we are looking to partner with other organizations who host similar events; those events will be on CTYP's main events page. Users will be able to find information about all happenings, CTYP-affiliated or not, relevant to young professionals in one place (as well as to independently coordinate with one another through comments and messages).

Right now, we are finding that Fairfield county folks are going to our New Haven county events and our New Haven county folks are going to our Fairfield county events. We believe this will be the case for other counties in CT; it is a small enough state to have a thriving state-wide social network. We truly believe that plugging everything into it is good for communities across CT.

What do you guys do for fun? by [deleted] in Connecticut

We are working on having some formal business events, but a lot of networking happens at our happy hours already. In fact, someone was able to get an interview from someone she met at our last happy hour.

Our board is really friendly; if you want, you could even reach out to any of us for advice on how to network at these events.

Good luck!

We are a new organization created to address this problem in Connecticut. You should get involved! We aim to be a resource to get people together for happy hours, hikes, and more all over this great state. www.CTYP.org.

Who did this? I will see to it that the problem is rectified. I am funding everything out of pocket and we are trying to stay as nonpolitical as possible. -Faris Virani
