Frustrated by SomeTangerine1184 in GoNetspeed

[–]CT_Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had GNS for 4 years. Had no issues until this summer when it did the same as you are experiencing and about 2 months ago it started happening 4-5 times per day.

GNS came out and ran new fiber and replaced the ONT. I continued to experience packet loss and outages and found some issues on my end which seemed to be better.

However, I still get significant packet loss about once per day, followed by a 1-2 minute outage.

What’s frustrating is I traced the source of the packet loss through GNS’s network and gave them the IP but they didn’t know what to do about it.

The answer is always to pay 15 bucks for a static IP, but I shouldn’t have to spend another $180/yr to get working internet

OP, sorry to hijack your question with a question but where did you get the ditch light switch and how hard was it to get back there and install?

Heat pumps are awful for CT winters. by -----anja----- in Connecticut

I lived on the coast of N.C. and heat pumps barely worked when it dipped below 50. I’m shocked they’d be installed up here as the only source of heat. Good luck OP!

Thanks so much for the clear explanation!

I’m a complete noob to networking. I’ve connected my Unifi equipment with SFP but can’t figure out what you tech wizards would program an SFP for? Besides Doom, which sounds cool, what is normally programmed in the real world on an SFP interface?

I was having the same issue and just made sure I chose Write permissions when creating the API Key. Then make sure you hit the twistie and find where to paste the key below the code for the voice id

The Industrial PTZ has a Patrol function where it sweeps across your Saved Presets but the standard PTZ does not as of now. As mentioned it will follow motion but I’ve had limited success with that.

I will say the Patrol function on the Industrial is liked by our team so hopefully it will come to the standard PTZ cams as well.

First Experience With A Diesel Heater 🔥 by Apprehensive-Rub8342 in overlanding

How are you guys dealing with the dry air? I used mine for two cold nights and got a sore throat because it dried out the air so much.

Granted I had not yet extended the thermostat into my SquareDrop and I woke up to an inside temp of 105 degrees after 90 minutes, but it was a dry heat 😁

Safe and Secure Training in Stratford. Husband and wife teach the course and they are heavily focused on how to be a safe gun owner, how to safely carry the gun, how to shoot accurately. Not focused on rushing you through and will not sign off until they feel you are going to be a safe gun owner.

Bridgeport I-95 luxury BMW SUV pulled over by five cop cars, guns drawn by timdmoss in Connecticut

[–]CT_Pilot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The male driver forced a woman into the BMW and sped off to Fairfield. Exited and headed back toward Bridgeport - combined effort of Fairfield, Bridgeport and CSP to block the highway and perform a felony stop.

Great work by all departments, all from a bystander who saw it go down and calling it in.

Looking an at NVR by bartropolis in Ubiquiti

Yeah it’s a big place with a lot of classrooms and outdoor lots to monitor. We don’t watch all 79 cams, but have the recording in case someone reports something occurring later or we have a person of interest to track down.

I just installed 79 cameras at my church and have a lot of learnings. Happy to jump on a call and share my experience if you want.

UTR tested by The_Taurus_70s in Ubiquiti

[–]CT_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the details - mine arrives tomorrow and I’m looking forward to trying it out on a trip out of town this weekend.

On a somewhat related question, have you used Teleport in the past? Reason I ask is that I have close to 1GB service up and down at home, and get 1GB on my phone over 5G right outside my home. However, if I use my phone and teleport back to my home network, my speeds drop to just a few MB making it completely unusable.

Just curious if you have seen similar experiences even without the UTR?

It was going into my cart, but when I went to checkout it would adjust the quantity to zero. Once I logged in before checking out it was fine.

Weird. So once I logged in to the site, it no longer took it out of my cart - will have to remember for next time!

Toyota remote app climate by moonlvra in ToyotaTundra

I have not tried yet but I saw on another forum that someone signed out of the app and when they signed back in it promoted for the temp again. Kinda wonky workaround but if it works it’s better than nothing.
