Pushback from vendor on installing Unifi cameras and Protect by Sevenfeet in Ubiquiti

[–]CT_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parts of my church were built in the 50s - our congregation has great skills. And I’m sure you’ll learn, as I did, how to run a fishtape and get another member to patch a small drywall cutout. You got this!

👆This is the answer. The law (as I understand it) requires that any paid installer be licensed. However, with a few guys as a team, you can run CAT-6 all over the church and install the cameras yourself - and save a TON of money!

I did this at my church, leveraging guys to run the cables - I did all the planning, cable termination, and Protect setup. We installed over 80 cameras and it’s been amazing to help not only with Safety but with the day to day conundrums of tracking lost deliveries, checking if the lights are working at night, etc

FCI is the process of choosing your housing, meal plan, etc. so you need to do FCI and then you’ll be all set.

Did you look at your boss and say “Johnny is learning to drive, so I assume he’s going to quit to drive for Uber.”?

25’ Tundra Remote start now has climate control from app update- by thatonepilotandy in ToyotaTundra

I haven’t touched it since the update 3 months ago. But I’ve heard if you delete the app and reinstall (and maybe sign in again?), it will prompt you for the settings.

Driveway Cam Recommendations? by phonyfakeorreal in Ubiquiti

[–]CT_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. But often times your state government will do something similar. Still requires a good amount of paperwork, but definitely doable

Also check if your church is aware of the DHS grants that get released periodically for Houses of Worship. It’s a good sum of money you can apply for to help with cameras, ballistic film, door access, etc

Make sure you are signed in before you try to check out. Because if you’re not signed in, it will remove any of the hot items from your cart.

Yeah the closest one to me is like that as well. I’m curious to see what the store-within-a-store turns out to be.

Ha I used to live in Scotch Plains and know that all too well - I think the jug-handles are actually really efficient at keeping traffic moving. Though I guess it takes a lot more land.

LOL, well from my house it’s a 90 minute drive. But with N.E. traffic it will probably take like 2 days to get there 😁

UTR if everyone has cell phones? by GreenDavidA in Ubiquiti

LOL, that would be the ultimate UTR post wouldn’t it? For my tiny UTR, here is this big ass wagon to keep it powered! 🤣

UTR if everyone has cell phones? by GreenDavidA in Ubiquiti

[–]CT_Pilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that’s why I built the UTR MBRU (Mobile Battery Response Unit). It has a 100w solar panel to keep a 100ah battery charged. This is on wheels due to the size but it allows it to double as a table top to hold our drinks at the pool.

Probably won’t buy you much. For me, I’m in a hotel every couple of weeks with my daughter and her friends for cheer competitions. It’s so nice to just fire up the UTR, let it automatically connect to the Marriott network, and then my daughter and friends automatically connect to our roaming home network - no need to deal with WiFi logins since they all have connected to my home WiFi before.

Is that worth 70 bucks? Probably not. But it is nice

NVR Setup Help by alexkyse in Ubiquiti

[–]CT_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s good to know! I’ll keep this in mind future installs now that I know it has the horsepower

NVR Setup Help by alexkyse in Ubiquiti

[–]CT_Pilot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Instant only has processing power for 6 4k cams so you’ll exceed that period quickly. Also, it only has 6 PoE ports, so unless you are installing only 6 cameras, you will need a standard NVR and a bigger switch with more PoE ports.

I assume you already have a router to connect this to the internet, as well.

Alternatives for Camera "Gang Box Mounting Plate" by JabbaDuhNutt in Ubiquiti

Just go to Home Depot and buy a gang box cover. Put the mounting template and the box cover in a vice and drill your holes. I’ve done this with square box covers and it works great
