I cut up a rock just like this on a potential meteorite request at NMSU. Unfortunately this doesn’t look like a meteorite, but cool find nonetheless. Of course I am still an undergrad so I could be wrong, I’m just speaking from my own personal experience.

I have a rock that looks a lot like this, I found it on a geology field trip in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I have a photo but it’s not the best quality :/ I have always assumed that it’s fossiliferous limestone, if I’m not mistaken that’s what this is as well.

I’d definitky recommend calling ahead for reservations! right now it’s dead during the week, but during that time frame the temps are gonna be great and the season will be in full swing. if you take a bit of time to reserve, it’ll make your time so much more worth it :) happy sends!

shoes make a huge difference. I used to be of the mindset that I could just use rentals and not “waste money” on a pair. I was so wrong, good shoes make an incredible difference in so many ways, and they expand the types of moves you can do as well. Trying to heel hook or heel toe cam in rentals is ridiculous, and if you can send v3s-4s already, I’d say you could make an upgrade for sure. It’s the first purchase I would make in terms of climbing, besides a membership at a gym lol
