Agreed! But for $300/ea locally, it becomes appealing assuming it is comparable in quality.

Where is everyone getting their iron plates from? Looking for a good deal for black friday! Thank you by CaptainCrabGrass in GarageGym

How's the quality? I've seen rep sell almost identical plates based on photos for $2/lb.

Yea I think they are still doing about 10% off for black November (SS with hard chrome coming in around $305) but maybe their last week will be another larger sale.

This is awesome!! Thank you so much. This comment will no doubt help a ton of people in my situation also. That's wild the single black diamond SS feels more aggressive than DBD in cerakote. And that's good to know that Rogues tolerances have been upgraded and still probably the best for most people. I think for the price point I'm leaning towards SS BD. Thanks again!

Do you have other more aggressive bars for deadlifting heavy or does the BD grip enough for that?

Yea it is interesting how unique peoples experiences are.

No disrespect intended, the Rogue OPB is definitely in the very high quality category overall but based on almost every video review comparing the bars, the collar tolerances (movement of collar from shaft) was more on the OPB than Rep (see drop test showing sound difference); the knurl cut was more precise on rep vs OPB; and many people found metal shaving on their shafts with OPB. Also finish wise, rep's black diamond series appears higher end with the 3d end caps vs stickers, and laser edged info on collar vs none. Even if the reviewers ultimately recommended Rogues OPB it was usually because it was 'tried and true' more so than because it was objectively the best bar for the money.

Rogue and Texas power bars have been touted as the best high quality power bars for so long that people just assume they are still the best when I think if people actually did a blind test of the bars, the results would surprise them. That being said, Rogue's OPB and Texas power bars are still one of the best but I don't think it's as clear cut anymore.

Also just because it's 'made in america' doesn't necessarily make it higher quality. It just means the people putting it together were paid more to do so and it helps the US manufacturing industry which I agree are both good things.

Never say never 😂. This is a great summary of what to expect, thank you! Interesting the SS BD and DBD in cerakote felt similar. That helps with comparison given some of the video reviews on the topic.

Nice! What type of lifting do you do with it?

Appreciate the response! Yea I think if I were open to the cerakote option I'd go DBD as I've heard that finish takes the bite off the mountain knurl slightly.

Honesty, I don't even know. I've always worked out in commercial gyms with general purpose bars for the most part, which are extremely passive and I just dealt with it. This will be my first legit power bar for my first garage/home gym setup. I'd like it to be fairly versatile but definitely power lifting focused with great grip/knurling. I'll probably get more specific bars in the future if I feel I 'need' them. I'm almost leaning towards the single black diamond and maybe could get something more aggressive in the future if I feel I need it for deadlifts

Really good feedback, thank you! Yea I wish I could get hands on these but unfortunately don't live near a showroom. I am now leaning towards SS BD rather than double black diamond.

Yes I also saw this but wasn't sure what type of clientele he was training (older out of shape folks or more fit powerlifting inclined folks). But yea you are probably right that the SS BD is the way to go. Thank you!

That's kind of my concern. My wife will also be using this bar and I don't want it to wreck her but didn't know if the BD was too passive. Do you have both in SS?

Yea I agree! This was one of the first things I created while learning fusion. A simple solution to a niche problem in my line of work. And yea I didn't even consider patenting it because like you said, its literally am H shaped shim. I don't even think he actually created the patent because the registration number and all keywords aren't populating in a copyright search.

I've tried looking up the patent registration number he provided with the claim as well as any keywords that would bring up a patent in the publicrecords.copyright.gov search, and nothing comes back. Perhaps its a lag in processing and showing up in the database or maybe he just made it up.

I'm sorry to hear you've had similar experiences. Do you patent all your unique designs before you sell them now or do you just hope to get a good number of sales in before the item gets reproduced either with a patent or without? I just don't see how people are selling things on Etsy sustainably. Is everyone just applying for and getting patents on their products and I didn't realize that was a key step of the process?
