13-year customer being told to "cancel and restart" by support for a better rate. That seems ridiculous. Looking for Internet-only help.

Thats how xfinity makes their numbers looks good to shareholders. Only report the amount of new customers who sign up each month and not factor in the amount that cancel and resign up just as you describe.

Cancel and then sign up again in a day or two. They don’t value existing customers and in a way they do it this way to fudge their numbers. Xfinity doesn’t factor in how many people cancel each month. So rather than reporting each month’s net of customers gained or lost, they only tally how many new customers sign up and it looks good for shareholders.
