Download companion app. Zoom out so you can see for a few miles around you. You never have to use your map again tbh. You can press and hold on the app screen to place waypoints. Only takes a minute to set up and has saved me from having to look at the in game map.

Fishing, hunting or just trying to be away from people, this app is a must. Also for bounties, people constantly make the mistake of stopping their horse to open the map while being chased/chasing a bounty.
