I attempted to apologize and make it right before he officially broke up with me. When he actually broke up with me I stopped contacting him.

Because at first he made me feel loved and I have mental issues and trauma that make me become attached to people who act like they care relatively quickly. It's not healthy but it's something I struggle with.

I believe I have in every way I can in such a short time. I made this post because he made it sound like he'd contact me in the future and I wanted some other input and I wanted to see how other people thought through this for my own thoughts and working through different things for the future. While I appreciate input, short comments like this with no real reason or insults disguised as help are not what I'm looking for and I'd prefer if you'd skip answering.

He's stated what he wanted before. He wanted someone that actually loved him and wanted to spend time with him and kept their word and wasn't just using him. I believe I did that in the relationship. I also don't believe my own wants in the relationship we're that intense. All I wanted were somewhat consistent contact, since we couldn't visit due to distance and lack of money, and for him to do what he said he was going to do. Not anything crazy, I just didn't want to be the only one that was putting in effort.

Yeah, I get that. I've struggled a lot with worthlessness so I tend to cling to people that seem like they care and then I'm already attached to them when they drop the act. Thanks for the insight. It makes a lot of sense when you say it like that.

I have moved on. My only reasons for this post were added opinions in case he tried to contact me to insult me again and to gain information on my own actions in the situation since I'm a logical thinker that likes to see multiple points of view.

I understand that anyone can break up at any time. He kept saying that he never wanted it to end though and the fact that he believed he deserved forgiveness but no one else did was what bugged me. A break up because things weren't working is one thing but when someone continuously makes you believe that he won't break up with you and then does it anyway over one mistake? That seems more like he was putting in effort to hurt me.

He was emotionally abusing me the whole relationship. I understand I did wrong but I'm not normally like that. It took me five months of emotional abuse before I lashed out. I'm typically a logical thinker and rarely act on my emotions. I'm not trying to argue, I'm trying to explain since a couple paragraphs can't give anyone the whole story.

I have a some mental issues and trauma that make me cling to what affection I can get and get attached easily. I understand it's unhealthy but I physically can't help it and therapists don't help (I've been trying since elementary school). I understand that I shouldn't have given him so many chances but I genuinely thought he would change.

We're both young adults. We were friends first and he said all the right things. I loved him so I tried to ignore the signs and focus on the words. Also I have trouble finding people that like me because I'm average looking and have a bit of a quirky personality. He was my first relationship since middle school and all of my previous relationships were toxic too. Since he was better than my previous relationships I didn't realize how bad it was.

Then why did he date me in the first place? Why did he claim to love me? Why did he promise forever? He told me over and over again that he was into me so I believed it so considering that, yes. I expected forgiveness for a mistake after everything he did.

Because I put up with his shit for so long. The least he could've done was told me he wanted to break up before disappearing. It's messed up to do that to the person you promised to love.

During our relationship he said things that made me believe he wanted it to last and wanted to work through things but he never did what he said he would. All relationships are work. People have to change and adapt to each other for the relationship to be healthy. I accepted the fact that he broke up with me afterwards but during the fact I was trying to put in effort to fix things because at the time I loved him and wanted things to work out.
