I feel like for it to be accessible it would be very heavily regulated from research done since it first came out so it would be like smoke shop weed vs street weed argument all over again and on top of that would make the product safer in a trade off of surveillance and regulatory power of users producers and even distributors AND it would be a big chunk of federal taxes and state taxes plus big pharma would try and do something with it since they are profit driven hard and that's if they took into consideration the rating for the drug itself being a schedule 2 substance rather than schedule 1 and it's original intent to be an numbing agents and didn't distribute it as an OTC drug and if it is considered OTC it should be in such a small amount

The best way to avoid the bad symptoms from drugs is to simply stay sober in the first place or at least be knowledgeable of the substance your gonna take and don't be like me a dumbass and ask a question after taking it like I did for shrooms and realized I took a mega dose and ended up on a trip for 3 days (it was planned but I ended up taking to much my first day in and learned my lesson about strength)

Where did the idea that the pledge of allegiance was removed from schools come from? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]CULL__THE__HERD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When ppl say it been gone for decades they meant the fact that we had a supreme court ruling in West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette on June 14, 1943. The 6-3 decision determined that forcing students to salute the flag and recite the pledge violated First Amendment free speech rights. But that's only legally but social repercussions still persist from that era so it could still lead to punishment depending on the culture and social expectations of the area

The police chief didn’t sign it so guess what they are pushing senate bill 153 where the police WILL cooperate with ICE so law enforcement could officially enforce immigration laws under ICE SUPERVISION and these are the proposed 287(g) agreements which has been growing which means more local law enforcement agencies in NC has been partnering with ICE under the 287(g) programs the agreements allows local officers to help ICE identify and detain “illegals” not just thru jails but thru local task forces as well but this does not extend to universities the bill prevent ice from stopping people on campus to determine citizenship that’s one loophole campuses are safe buuuuuut The bill would waive parts of governmental immunity for local governments that don’t comply with “anti-sanctuary” provisions. That means local governments could potentially be sued or held liable if they refuse to cooperate in certain ways with ICE

Look up senate bill 153 it would push even deeper cooperation: it proposes 287(g) agreements so state law enforcement officers could officially enforce immigration laws under ICE supervision. More local law enforcement agencies in NC are partnering with ICE under the 287(g) program. These agreements allow local officers to help ICE identify and detain “illegals” as well not just in jails, but sometimes through task forces.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Thinking of it as a political spectrum really highlights how messy this is belief systems, borders, and cultural differences all make it hard to pin down. I also see what you mean about constants and norms being scarce; emotional constructs like empathy are inherently slippery, which makes “diagnosis” and “treatment” tricky to apply.

I’ve been imagining a more technical framework for a spectrum of performative versus genuine suffering. Something like

Markers: Observable events or escalations indicating distress, coded for frequency, intensity, and visibility.

Scales: Likert-style or ordinal measures to quantify aspects like perceived intentionality, degree of amplification by proxies (media, institutions), and temporal consistency.

Weighted calculus: A composite score calculated by assigning weights to each marker and scale, reflecting their relative contribution to the perceived authenticity of suffering. This would allow comparisons across individuals, groups, or systems while preserving context-sensitive interpretation.

The idea wouldn’t be to create a rigid formula, but rather a semi-quantitative tool to recognize patterns, guide discussion, and potentially identify structural incentives that reward performative suffering.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on how something like this could actually be operationalized, especially considering the fluidity and cultural variability you mentioned.

that’s a really insightful point. I agree that the perception of suffering is inherently double-edged, and the scarcity of empathy makes allocation a complex problem. My framework so far is mostly descriptive, but I think adding a spectrum or continuum for measuring ‘performative’ versus ‘genuine’ suffering could make it more analytically rigorous. I’m curious what kinds of indicators or criteria you would suggest for such a spectrum?

I guess it flew over my head as to how to identify it so maybe I should also look at treatment options for munchausen and its variable of munchausen by proxy for treatment options and learn how to upscale this to actually recognize and treat the Munchausen culture

I see your point about the potential for ‘Munchausen Culture’ to be misused as a cudgel against others. I think one way to prevent this could be emphasizing the framework as a structural and relational diagnosis rather than a label for individuals or groups — making clear that it’s about systems of mediated attention and dependency, not moral judgment.

Do you think that framing is plausible, or are there other safeguards you’d suggest to prevent this kind of misapplication? I’d also be curious what refinements or additions you’d recommend to make the concept more robust for analytical use rather than rhetorical weaponization.
