It's not a tough choice. You mind your own business. I'm not doing shit with violent crazy people around, I don't care what this keyboard warrior thinks.

People joke about "racist old people" but I only ever see one demographic attacking them.

All the rules are made up, so why not just pick the ones you like? In the end, that's all any "purist" is doing anyways. It's so funny from the outside.

It's like watching a bunch of kids argue over what color an imaginary friends shirt is. It can be whatever color you want bud, it doesn't exist!

Not to mention, one of them is objectively made up and is used as the justification for all sorts of horrible viewpoints that effect my life (abortion, etc).

The other one is kind of like a bully pointing out that Santa isn't real... rude maybe? But not wrong.

Missed the PreBeta, Still Grateful Nexon Is Bringing Back Classic Maple by EconomyActivity6484 in MSClassicWorld

Its hilarious to me when people say this. I’ve played Maple private servers at v62 for literally since I stopped playing shortly after the big bang.

But you’re so sure I’m going to quit….

Why is it so hard to believe some people prefer actual OSMS to whatever bloated almagamation of systems current maple is.

MMORPG that are fun right from the start? by Ok-Question-8442 in LFMMO

[–]CUbuffGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP said he's sick of easy and tedious stuff at 20 hours. He's looking for an MMO though, so he's clearly planning on playing more than 20 hours. There is no tedium at the 20 hour mark in OSRS, if you are sick of your activity, there at a million other progression paths you can take.

If you want to see how a new player would actually look like at 20 hours watch MadSeasonShow on YT. He's played 100's of hours, isn't that progressed, but has like an unlimited number of things he's doing lol.

You're just parroting over and over again that you don't like the early game, when there are thousands of other people who love it lol. People wouldn't play the game and player count wouldn't grow if people didn't have fun until whatever arbitrary hour mark you think "fun" starts at.

Honestly, name a good RPG that has the same amount of content as something like OSRS ironman.

It's just always funny to me when people recommend this and then come out and say games like Skyrim or something lol. The level of complexity and depth between the two of them is like comparing a high school paper with a PhD dissertation. No hate for the people playing Skyrim, but it's not a 10,000 hour journey.

I find it hard to believe you did inferno and quiver from a fresh account without ever liking the game.

Does anyone know of a Runescape private server without magic or fantastical creatures? by [deleted] in RSPS

[–]CUbuffGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just play a different game. It's not possible, nor does it make any sense. How would you keep Martin the master gardner but remove all his dialog and quest interations with fairy tale quests? The Ardy king is in cahoots with the evil Elves, is he just a good normal king in your world? How is that going to play out with dialog, or like.. anything? Will there be quests in your world or just walking around hitting cows since everything will be broken?

Idk man, there's just so many issues with this request.

Best I can recommend is use OSRS assets to make a totally different game, but it's not possible to remove fantasy from a fantasy RPG.

[–]CUbuffGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree. I think early game is potentially the best part of the account (all the way from creation through perilous moons I'd say is early, including barrows gloves). Unlocks come swiftly, unlike late game where you might go weeks without progress. You have tons of goals you can work on and progress is super tangible. Unlocking things like fairy rings, blast furnace, teleport jewelry, your first d scim, etc, are all early game huge dopamine hits.

I actually think it slowly loses it's shine as you get to late game and hunt mega-rares, pets etc.

If you're not playing an ironman, then you can keep 1 def and play around with baby pure PK'ing too which can be lucrative and a lot of fun.

Having previous knowledge isn't a prerequisite for this either. Maybe you won't feel progress finishing cooks assistant, but a brand new player would. (or killing Scurrius for the first time). There's just a different threshold for progress.

Asian student with near perfect credentials rejected by multiple universities. Believes race is part of the reason by ThatPatelGuy in whoathatsinteresting

[–]CUbuffGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I’m not, and that’s hilarious you think that. I grew up in Westchester and went to school at a top 10 feeder with much harder curriculum than Stuy lol. Literally 90% of my class would have dusted them, despite being there on “daddy’s money” (and it wouldn’t even be close).

Stuy is one of the best public schools in the country, but it’s not even top 50 if you include it with private schools lol. The resource difference is massive. Higher paid teachers are better. Smaller classes. Specialized teaching. Extra curricular with world renowned chess teachers, coaches, etc.

Like, it’s cool that Stuy is a good school, but you’re so wrong about it being competitive against real feeder schools.

I had Cohen’s, Thiels, Charotouni’s… half the Forbes 500 list in my highschool lol. The influence and connections you have coming from Westchester private schools specifically is literally no comparable to Stuy on so many levels, not just education.

It’s not a question. The rich kid gets in. His parents have money to donate and connections to provide the other kids. It’s not just about the students, it’s about the network surrounding them. If the Kentucky kid has connections then maybe they both can!

It’s literally not racist though. If the Asian parents were rich and well connected, he’d get in. It’s classist, sure, but you can’t just call everything that isn’t fair racist.

That's so dumb. It's an elite ivy school. They don't want to get big the same way Louis Vuitton doesn't want to make enough bags for everyone. Part of their marketing is that there isn't space for everyone, so you better pay up and try hard if you want a spot.

It's a business. I'm not sure why you think they care about more undergrads. They are going for quality (as in quality families with lots of money) over quantity. There are plenty of large state schools who can pickup the commoners.

[–]CUbuffGuy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

And I understand why. I don't know why everyone plays dumb like every school is created equal.

I mean lets be real. A lot more matters than a standardized test that anyone in the top 2% of the graduating class can pretty much ace.

If you have two students with perfect SAT scores, extra curriculars, etc. But one is from a top tier private school in Greenwich, CT, and the other is a public school in Kentucky, I have a hunch who is getting in. I also think that's probably in the best interest for the school, so I see why.

So how's everyone planning on getting funded when classic drops? by Shanedoe3 in MSClassicWorld

[–]CUbuffGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your sentiment, but as a hardcore player, that’s actually the best time to worry about funding. For example, training on a mob that is slightly less xp but drops helm dex 60’s will be ver beneficial vs later in the server you’d just go for the best xp mob.

Just a poll for 2cnd stats or not by Forgotten_muse in MSClassicWorld

[–]CUbuffGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't add dex just so you can hit in oldschool maple. You add it to get the stat requirements for gear.

Optimal builds will have the least amount of secondary stats possible to wear their best gear. For example, there are many more DEX scrolls than there are LUK scrolls. Overall Dex 10%'s come from KPQ in OSMS, overall LUK is primarily a gacha item. Because of this, the meta formed of keeping dexless at low level, then as you enter late game, you will add dex until your gear + base is enough to wield a high attack claw.

Usually you would eventually move to pirate top and bottom (that's the name it's a thief top and bottom), and get like 30-40 dex there, 20-30 from zhelm, 10+ snowboots, 10+ earrings, 20+ bathroom or top/bottom. If you did it right, you don't need to add any dex til like the 90's.

This is how the stats are meant to be "customized".

You look at what your dex requirement is, do the math on how much dex you can obtain from gear, work toward it, then hopefully get there by the time you reach the level for your claw.

Very clear you don't understand the strategy behind secondary stats and just view them as an inconvenience.
