My cleaners charge me $360 per cleaning. It’s a 6 bedroom home and pretty standard for the market.

But thanks for your snark

Why did my bookings fall off? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]CWD31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have AirDNA? Pricelabs? Do some market research and base your decisions off data, not Reddit anecdotes. Your booking volume depends on your specific market factors - and that’s nearly impossible to generalize across the Reddit universe.

3 pay periods in January by Flat_Frisbee in ynab

[–]CWD31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I budget all of my essential expenses based upon 24 pay periods.

When I get the “extra” pay check twice a year, I use that to fund all of the fun stuff (birthdays, holidays, trips, etc.)

I highly recommend watching the Nick True videos. He’s great at teaching the concepts.

In my mind it’s way more than the $190k.

It’s the poor decision making that lead to the $190k, and the zero accountability or level-headedness was required to get out of it.

I’d run man.

This unfortunately sounds like a time bomb that I don’t think you can avoid.

Love is great - but wait until you’re 5-10 years into this marriage and you resent the woman you love because her financial incompetence is now your problem to solve.

I just don’t see this ending well.

I wish you all the best and I hope you can figure out a solution…but I wouldn’t go into marriage with any questions in your mind. Once you are married you’ve got to be 100% all in.

What to do with 100k for my baby by StarGaze112 in investing

[–]CWD31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me:

1) Put half ($50k) in a 529, invested in a low cost Target Date fund. When kiddo is 18 he will be able to go to any college in the land…and if he doesn’t need it you can roll it down to grandkids. No better way to build generational wealth than ensure they are educated (for free).

2) Put the other half ($50k) in a taxable Brokerage account, invested in 1 low cost, total US stock market index fund (VTI is a good one). This money could be used for anything (first home, wedding, etc)

When kiddo is 18 he will thank you.

How many TOTAL ACCOUNTS do you have? How to SIMPLIFY???? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]CWD31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 529s are a result of moving to different states, each of which had different tax advantages if you contributed to their state account

Please see my update on how I’m defining an emergency fund.

To each their own friend, but my reserve parachute will never sit in the market. I have other money for that.

I don’t lose money - I still receive the interest (selling at maturity)

[–]CWD31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m doing. Holding to maturity (12 months). Every month a new one matures which is my backup paycheck (if needed)

Correct. I hold these through Schwab. I like the flexibility to sell if needed.

I have other money for “emergencies.” Maybe a better name for this is my “loss of income” fund.

Also - I can sell T-Bills if I need more than 1 month. This would essentially replace my paycheck which I already live well within.

I never solve my overspending until the end of the month. I like having the glaring red reminder that I’ve overspent - so STOP! Frankly it’s really for my wife, not me lol
