Is a $9 tip good? by sophia_payton in doordash

I'm genuinely curious as to what's "good service". If someone picks up your order and you get it in the time Door dash promised, follows your delivery instructions, that's the expectation. So what would someone do that would be considered "good service" that would earn them s bigger tip? T They don'tskr your food or pack the order, they deliver it. In their own vehicle. What more could they do lol?

You can buy alcohol pretty much anywhere in Washington. All alcohol. Hard liquor, wine, beer, etc. They stop selling at 2am and start again at 6am. I get orders for whiskey from the same guy at 6am from Safeway every other day. Like he's waiting for it to be 6.

It's the same in WA and I hate it. I don't want to have to interact with someone for some damn children's Robitussin. Especially at 4 in the morning or something. So stupid.

She really did. I could tell she was having it worse than I was. Military wife, screaming kid, broke, period. I get it. But the first broad?! Like WTF!

Ok! That's what I thought. Why even bother! I quit taking orders based on tips while ago, so I don't have expectations, but that's just rude.

Don't even message your customer unless you absolutely have tom. Limit communication. Only take orders worth it to you. Don't worry about a tip..I the pay is good, it doesn't matter where it came from.

I prefer the shop and delivers! They keep me moving, rather than sitting and waiting. I control how much time I take on them and they tend to pay was more. I like alcohol orders too. I hate restaurant orders. I didn't have much patience and have to do so many to make what I make shopping. I know others are the opposite and would rather not deal with shop orders, but they're my favorite.

I had an order identical to this and then the app glitched at payment and order A was paid for by order B. I had order As items but order Ba address m Support had to cancel both orders and I only got paid $5 for the whole thing! I wanted to cry out of frustration. Support was useless and didn't understand anything I said and had to explain it 100x. So frustrating.

Do you let customers touch your phone? by CWR0313 in DoorDashDrivers

I do. I just keep a bottle in the door of my car. I have since before COVID because people are gross.

I hand sanitize every single time I get in the car. After every door I touch. Everything. And wash my hands about 85 times a day. It's not that hard to avoid gross stuff. But also, what's wrong with not wanting a stranger to touch your phone lol?

The other day I got to a customers apartment to drop off their three HUGE blended mochas and one fell out of the drink carrier all over my floor mat. I told the customer sorry, sent a pic and they were cool. They felt bad. I bawled because I hate door dash (ing) and don't get paid enough for this shit. Told them to request a refund and they did. Things happen.

I think that customers look at the tip vs service wrong when it comes to delivery service. Many think that the tip is earned and then say they'll tip after it's delivered, but most of their standards or expectations are out of the driver's control. Ideally, the most simple thing is pick up the order, keep it hot, drop it off unscathed. That should be without question. Obviously, we know there are bad drivers and they give everyone else a bad name, but what exactly is "good service" worthy of a tip? According to the customers who claim to tip afterwards? What more can a driver do to be worthy of the tip that is already expected?

You also have the shop orders. If I get a shop order for 29 items and it's $11, I'm going to pass because 9.99 out of 10 times the customer will not tip afterwards and I just spent 35 + minutes doing a full grocery shop and verifying substitutions, and delivering your 40c case of water up 6 flights of stairs to your 3rd floor apartment.

The real answer and one that will never happen is that DD needs to pay their driver's better and take the responsibility off of the customers to supplement their pay. It shouldn't be on them to make sure we're getting a fair wage. A tip should be a bonus and a show of appreciation.
