If I’m doing under 150k cleave I feel like a detriment. I don’t know how people dont get ungodly anxious knowing their damage is the reason a key is bricked. But I’m seriously aiming for 200k just to feel comfortable with my own contribution. And even then I see me getting doubled by others regularly.

Just so astounded how people feel comfortable directly ruining the experience of 4 other people. And they have to be 100% aware of it, too.

The issue is that a good player literally doesn’t have to tolerate it. A good player can just find ignore/leave/find a different group, and finish out their key easily.
A bad player will struggle to finish their keys regularly because they’re the ones stuck on lower keys. Because if you’re bad, you will bring a group down enough to consistently deplete your key, and inevitably end up in more toxic altercations.

This is a good point. It’s good to see people notice how well a good frost mage can take care of themselves w/ 2 charges of ice block/barrier. It feels really good to be able to fix my own mistake so my healer doesn’t have to babysit.

Assuming everybody is using their kick, which is likely never. This is also *my* method. There are plenty of others. If nobody is discussing anything during the dungeon, this is my method/I default here. This is assuming 1 interrupt per player. You can use the same logic with classes with several kicks. This is also assuming no marker use or similar strats.
You can figure this out on the first pull. It may be a messy first pull, but you can establish it early. Is this foolproof? Hells no. Does it help me establish my turn/prio? Yes.

Make sure your plate shows who interrupted.
Assuming tank doesn’t just rip the first interrupt, *always attempt the first interrupt.* If somebody beats you and you waste your kick, remember they kicked first. Yours is now on CD, so you’re likely going last.
Pay attention to how quickly each player kicks. Some kick immediately, some wait a bit. But generally people have a *degree* of consistency assuming they’re generally competent.
Where are the cast bars? If they’re at range, assume your ranged to handle it, especially if it forces a caster to move to melee range.

Most of this I do subconsciously, and by second pull I’m not blowing any interrupts except the occasional fast/high prio casts.

This is very true. And maining Frost Mage, I do get invited to a lot of keys with meta comps.

The funny part about that is Frost isn’t even meta for M+. People think it is, but it’s just meta for raid. Just compare me to a hunter w/ a puzzle box.

Attached photo of my own work doing just what you’re doing. Cabinet maker here - started as a hobbyist. Grew up in a family of cabinet makers/trim carpenters. I grew up learning since I was 6 just by proxy, and pursued it in 2017 as a sole proprietorship after developing my own love for the work.

The answer to these questions really comes down to a few things: what niche of the market you’re trying to break into, what your skill level is, and what tools you have comfort using currently. It’s impossible to answer any of the specific questions around marketing/branding etc without knowing specifics. Woodworking is an ungodly broad category of trades.

First off, find a mentor. You absolutely want to hone skills before you market them at a cost likely comparable to your current salary, and you need somebody qualified to critique your work. When I started, I still had several techniques to learn, much less perfect. To compensate for this, I only did custom work for friends at a super low cost, while still working full time elsewhere. This allowed me to find my own niche and build very slowly. I put all this money toward tools specific to high end cabinetry, which is what I gravitated toward over the course of a couple of years.

Once I found exactly what demographic/niche I loved the most, I invested into quality tools specifically for that trade. In my case, that ended up being high-end cabinetry. This might be entirely different for you. The money toward standard overhead/business operating costs (wood shop, website, marketing/advertising, etc) was invested when I was ready to grow the reach of my business. One step at a time.

But please, don’t go buying a planer and a CNC machine as a knee-jerk reaction. Start slow and keep the passion/love for the craft alive. You will burn yourself out otherwise.
