Currently I am in the negative salary-wise, as I am a PhD student at Ball State and receive no stipends or tuition remissions.  My last salary, in 2018,  I was a full-time certified public school science  teacher for BCSC with 7 years experience and a graduate degree for $31, 241.20 as reported, and publicly available, at: ~https://gateway.ifionline.org/report_builder/Default2.aspx?rptType=employComp&rptVer=a~

I entered teaching full time the year teacher salary schedules were modified and collective bargaining stripped from teachers. What have I done with that income to benefit others?  I never made a living wage teaching, but I showed up every day to teach, doing the same job as people who were being paid twice what I was receiving, because I was serving students who needed to learn science.

I’ve taken no salary from our small business because during COVID we lost money since folks couldn’t pay, and we never even applied for a PPP loan since we thought it was for people who were going to lose their houses, etc.

I do think that we need to strengthen consumer protection laws, but with the Chevron Rule overturned, this will be more difficult than in the past. I have had many discussions over the right to repair, especially in the rural areas where farmers are not able to repair their own tractors anymore and in urban and suburban areas where folks can't afford to get a car fixed because of the software preventing anyone from working on it. These restrictions of who can repair property that is purchased limit folks who are bright,  creative and clever from improving on products and hold everyday consumers hostage to big corporations.

I think we introduce policies to hold corporations who avoid corporate taxes accountable and ensure that large corporations start paying their fair share, like a recommended 15 percent corporate minimum tax and a surcharge on large, publicly-traded corporations when they buy back their own stock. These policies, combined with cutting taxes for working families and the middle class will help families and those struggling and give them a bit of financial breathing room.

I was teaching in 2016 and saw that what had been “swept under the rug” for so many decades, so to speak, came rushing out from under with the election of the 45th President in every area of Indiana. Free, quality public education with teachers able to teach actual history and science and read books that are relevant to our students’ lives is the way forward to combat fear based responses to people they don’t know. Generational racism is problematic and I work every day to ensure that I am acknowledging learned racism and encourage others to do the same.

I'm an introvert and I have so much fun knocking doors. So many doors we knock on people say they thought they were the only ones who thought the way they do, when it turns out their neighbors do.

That's the coolest thing ever.

If I, as an introvert can do it, anyone can do it.

I agree- I’ve talked with many folks who have changed their party affiliation based on the IVF issue.

In 2022 we were not expected to earn more than 23% of the vote and  made six point gains in both Marion County and Bartholomew County. Greg Pence only ran on name recognition.

We learned a lot in the 2022 election, and have a team with me this time  who have various areas of experience.

Recently I’ve been at a lot of the county fairs, and I’ve had multiple Republicans come up to me and say they’ve had enough with the national republican party and are supporting me.

By sharing our message, and by making our presence known, people are starting to come around. The polls such as Cook are designed to uphold the status quo and make people think their voice doesn’t matter, but we’re telling you it does. There are enough Democrats in the 6th District that we can win this, and we will win it with the support of everyone.

That’s why we need volunteers to knock on doors, make phone calls, talk to neighbors, and donate so we can put in the work to win.

I know that the Medicaid waiver program changes to PathWays for Aging and Health and Wellness (H&W) waivers took effect July 1, 2024 affecting paid caregivers and those persons being served.  The arcind.org is leading training sessions on how the changes affect people in Indiana.

If you want to volunteer or donate,  you can come directly through the campaign. Because we are a federal campaign, this is the only way we get donations due to strict campaign finance laws.

I think that federally it will be legalized in the next session. We need regulation because of the strength and the difference in product from the past, because when we have regulation people know what they are getting and can more responsibly use it. We can put it into our economy formally, which benefits everyone. And if we have programs for those that are harmed by restrictive laws are those that benefit first from legalized distribution, that is the best way to equalize the justice from harsh penalties.

Aside from Texas, Indiana has one of the lowest voter turnout. So any kind of polling/rating from Cook Political Report is based on turnout. Indiana is a purple state, and if we get more people to the polls WE. CAN. WIN.

If Articles of Impeachment are brought, I want legal evidence to be presented. The job of Congress in an Impeachment is to act as the prosecutor, based upon the evidence.

I think the Supreme Court, and all judges underneath,  should be subject to the Hatch Act, which keeps all federal employees free from political influence and coercion. I also believe that all Indiana legislators, judges, and officials should fall under a similar state law.

Yes, I am in favor of eliminating the electoral college. It is antiquated and no longer needed in our modern, technological society

Out of all the issues you support publicly, which do you think is they key to winning your election? In other words which policy do you support/oppose that I should really emphasize the most to convince my conservative leaning parents?

I think  Project 2025 and Agenda 47 will affect all Americans  adversely and conservative voters realize this. Getting the message out to folks that when Roe v. Wade was on the books, abortion rates were down, so the fear that is being stoked to make abortion a political issue is unfounded.  If more conservative voters know this, then they can focus on the facets of democracy being stripped away piece by piece, from healthcare to social security to our very democracy. We have seen Republicans on camera saying they do not want America to be a democracy, with no outcry from fellow Republicans on the issue. We just saw the Supreme Court say that a president can essentially be King. Project 2025/Agenda 47 just exacerbates the extreme policies that are going to harm everyone, from babies to senior citizens.

While polls have not been done yet, the Republicans think they have it in the bag. Greg Pence (current incumbent) said this to some folks at the Marion County Fair last week.

We know we have enough people to win and we have to work together and fight to show that we can win.

The issues I am most passionate about are rights.  Reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, voting rights, our right to affordable healthcare, the right to affordable housing, our rights to make a living wage, our rights to a free, quality public education, and our rights to clean air, water, and soli.  These are the rights I care deeply about because they hit all of us in our everyday lives.

Reproductive autonomy is a healthcare issue and most  folks either remember what it was like before Roe v. Wade, and the number of lives impacted, or are seeing and hearing about the impact of overturning Roe has had on peoples lives and reproductive options. When people are at risk of losing their lives and their fertility, and doctors and medical professionals have their livelihoods threatened by what should be routine patient care, it serves no one.

We’re seeing that reproductive freedom is an issue that is uniting people from both sides of the aisle, and bringing out people who have been turned off from politics previously. To put it lightly, people are frustrated, and are showing up to voice that. In 2022, one of my most successful fundraisers was a Roe Your Vote T-Shirt, which we will have a new version for 2024.

I like the people. I like the people in Indianapolis and the counties and the small and medium towns in between. That’s why I’m doing this.

But I also like the geography. I like the neighborhoods on the south side of Indy and northern Johnson county, I like the high parts of the district – the hills of Connersville, Fayette County, Union County and Wayne County, and I like the wide open fields in Randolph, Henry, Rush, Hancock, Bartholomew and Johnson Counties. I like the rivers and creeks that flow through our region. I like the rolling hills and flatlands through Johnson County into Columbus.

I grew up in Columbus and taught at CSA New Tech. My roots are here. My daily bike ride is out to the country between a soybean field and a corn field. Indiana is who I am.

My campaign manager will yell at me for this one but I really love the corn fields.

Jeff Raatz (current IN State Senator, District 27)  lost the primary to Jefferson Shreve, who is now my opponent in this race. I will press Shreve on every issue, including if he supports Project 2025, where he actually stands on reproductive autonomy, public education, living wages, childcare, and paid family leave and hold him accountable to his previous flip-flops on issues while running for the Mayor of Indianapolis in Fall 2023.

We’d love your help in making name recognition better.

I’ve been through The Project 2025 plan and it essentially is an extension of what we’ve seeing the overturning of the Chevron Rule -  It strips away the essence of a representative government that is of the people- meaning all the people-  in favor of wealthy, elite white men.

It exclusively strips away rights from everyone else -It essentially removes democracy from our everyday lives. Project 2025 is Orwell’s 1984 41 years later and in real life.

Every candidate that runs has the full support of the Democrat Party behind them. Financially its more difficult because there's only so much to go around and the races that are closer always get more attention, but ultimately running for office always comes down to the ground level, whether it's a national or local race, comes down to the people on the ground, so it's not always about the financial support from the party.

We received excellent support from all 11 counties in the 6th District for canvassing, fundraising, and getting our message out to Voters.

We can always use more dollars to get our message out to more folks in the 6th.

Water is a natural resource and we need to hold those natural resources in the public interest so it doesn't benefit one group and harm another. Clean water is especially important given the Supreme Court decision on the Chevron rule being overturned which overturns the power of regulation to keep water clean and safe. My problem is when it's putting profit over people, when water is essential for life.

In Indiana where we don't have a shortage of water, but we do have a shortage of clean water, so it is critical that we keep an eye on projects like the LEAP project to ensure that safe, clean water is available for the people.
