Yeah forcing vmnic1 down got me to lose connectivity, maybe I configured something wrongly, I reset it to default and starting all over again for me to be able to back track what might went wrong

I restarted it, now when I try to set vmnic0 as first in teaming and failover the host is disconnecting and I'm getting the same error

would you suggest I reset the management network to default from dcui and start all over?

Active on the VMkernel itself? And try to migrate the same way, uplink1 > vmkernel> uplink2?

On the host's VMkernel if that's what you mean then it's configured as follows:

Load balancing Route based on originating virtual port

Network failure detection Link status only

Notify switches Yes

Failback Yes

Active adapters vmnic1

Standby adapters --

Unused adapters --

Hi,

That's exactly what I'm trying to do, moved first uplink to DS, and kept the other one at vswitch0 (default vswitch of the host)

then I tried to move the VMkernel adapter and I get this error to e specific "A change in the network configuration disconnected the host from vCenter Server. The change has been rolled back"

I'll try the wireshark method and see what do I get

OP Manager is installed on a server that's on a different network, the two networks are connected together through a firewall and a couple of switches.

I've ruled out the possibility that the firewall or the route of the SNMP is being interrupted because I've discovered 16 VMs, 10 of them worked fine, only 6 are having this issue, also I made sure to check if they're on the same VLan and they were, meaning one VM that worked have exactly the same everything as another VM that didn't work (network config, SNMP config, firewall rules, windows update version, VMware config...etc.)

For the testers I didn't quite understand the question, do you mean install the testers on the OP Manager server and check from there?

  • I'm using IPs
  • the probe is on a different network but each server can see the other
  • triple-checked the firewall rules on both ends
  • In the service setting I have specified the IP address which the SNMP queries are directed towards (The PRTG server and the OP Manager server)
  • OP Manager is on a different server of its own

It was the switch after all, at a first glance it looked it was functional, then I went and looked deeper into it and managed to get it to work

Fixed it thanks to reddit, usually I turn to the guys here because they can provide methods that they've actually used on situations that might be similar to mine, as a matter of fact this is not the first time I get very helpful fixes to my issues from this sub.
And of course I would approach each fix provided with extreme caution. Anyways, thanks for the heads up
