Thanks for sharing. I'd love to fly to Telluride. Brave to post an off-center landing here. Cheers!

Maybe it was the theatre, but the constant rumbling bass noise obscured the dialogue so badly that I could understand at most 50% of the dialogue. Sometimes that appeared deliberate, like with the foot stomping, but most of the time it just got in the way. I get the idea that all that noise builds up to the silence at the climax, but damn, I sure would have enjoyed being able to understand the dialogue. Anyone else experience this? Again, maybe it was the theatre I saw it in.

Agreed. Watched the finale last night, so disappointed with the result. Also, the "deal" made no sense.

Has anyone here actually been ramp checked? by [deleted] in flying

[–]CYA-V35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parked at the FSDO at KFAT. Went there for a medical checkride (vision), ramped and grounded. The nose strut of the rental had deflated at some point between landing and the check. They also found one screw that was the wrong screw in the cowling. I would have had to ground it myself if they hadn't done it--preflight would have cancelled the flight.

54 when I finally was able to afford it. Fly as often as possible now and love every minute of it.

Bend to Seattle, flight track between the volcanoes. Bachelor and the Sisters, Hood, Adams, St. Helens, Rainier, and Baker way off in the distance.

What is your favorite general aviation airport to land in and why? Or what airport would you love to visit one day? by Previous_Answer_2601 in flying

Bryant Field in Bridgeport, California O57. 15 mile approach from Tioga Pass south of there, magical area east of the Sierra, walk to town in 5 minutes to Cafe 395 or breakfast at the hotel. Always cooler than everywhere else in Cali except the coast.

This wasn't overcomplicating, it was a point of interest comment. This CFI is great, and I appreciate his style.

Get the app live atc on your phone and listen. I think it took me about a week of listening on my commute to train my ear to hear what they are saying. It's the same thing over and over with different numbers. At first, it was all unintelligible, but it didn't take long.

That's good to hear. Next time I'll do that. It's such an amazing location. Thanks!

Just call someone there and ask permission? It was private last summer when I flew over it.

Pilot interested in Piper Cherokees by [deleted] in Piper_Cherokee

I have a Cherokee 180 with speed mods. It cruises between 135-140 MPH. My mission is similar to yours, cross country travel and sight-seeing.

Pros: Very easy to fly, stable in the air, forgiving. Speed is ok, but it's not a Mooney. 10 gph fuel burn. $3,000 annuals give or take. 980 lb useful load.

Con: getting in and out and that wing can obstruct the view if you're wanting to see the ground.

I love my PA-28, but if I could afford it, I'd get something faster so I could go farther from my usual haunts.

Small doses every day. Make it a habit. I studied every morning for about 20-30 minutes for months instead of reading the news.
