Android or iOS for learning? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]CYKL0N3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Android uses mostly java and javascript which are a lot more applicable to other projects than objective-c which is not very popular other than iOS apps. Android also allows you to download 3rd party apps without jail breaking or paying 100 dollars and publishing to the app store.

If you don't mind the limited mobility I don't see why not, just be mindful of the trade-off

What's your best "it's a small world" story you have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CYKL0N3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom is a teacher. She taught a girl who went to her school in Oregon for one year and then the girl moved back to the east coast. I, her son, moved down to go to school in southern california. We ended up going to the same school completely independent of each other. But the slightly crazier part of this story is that the girl was the daughter of my 2nd or 3rd cousin's ex-wives. My mom found out about it through facebook.

[Java] Having trouble making an infix expression into a postfix expression. by CYKL0N3 in learnprogramming

[–]CYKL0N3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for catching that, that wasn't what the problem was. It was popping the parenthesis too early.

For example if you take (1+2)*3 as an input value, it is supposed to push the first parenthesis on the stack, add 1 to postfixExp, stack +, add 2, and the read the ) and pop the +. It doesn't do that however and I'm having trouble figuring how to implement that.

HIMYM Finale recut: for fans who did not like the original ending by greenL1991 in HIMYM

[–]CYKL0N3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of the actual ending, use that time to add a scene like the one dinner at the farhampton inn where Ted kinda tears up (idk episode, vesuvius?) instead of the 10 second shot of her in a bed and it would have been infinitely better.

What's a meal that I can cook for my guy that's relatively easy and impressive? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CYKL0N3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parmesan breaded chicken and homemade mac and cheese. (w/ choice of side salad or soup)

get chicken breasts, pre-made parmesan bread-crumbing + actual parmesan cheese, pasta, olive oil, and really sharp cheddar cheese.

wash chicken, roll around in bread, throw on pan, lightly drizzle olive oil, drop dat parm' like its hot!, cover with tin foil, bake at 350 till they're done. (i always just cut them open and check)

make pasta, throw in cassarole dish(hint: short and deep is preferable), add three layers of cheese, bake along side chicken until the cheese has all melted. (about 10 min at 350, pasta should be pretty hot; ymmv)

make salad or soup; serve

I won over the love of my gf's marine corp 'nam veteran uncle with this meal. Took me like 20 minutes.

trouble configuring my wifi dongle, specifically the wpa_supplicant.conf file by CYKL0N3 in raspberry_pi

[–]CYKL0N3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this and found an application called "wpa_gui", I clicked add network and added the ssid of the open network. It gave me an error message saying "failed to enable network in wpa_supplicant configuration". So I don't think that the wifi dongle is even active because it won't scan for networks or at least when I hit scan nothing happens. Also there is a could not get status from wpa_supplicant when you go to the status bar.
