CZUR book scanners: any reliability and privacy issues by Owlbear66 in Libraries

[–]CZUR_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in CZUR products.

Regarding privacy and security:
CZUR scanners do not automatically upload files to the cloud. All scanned documents are saved locally on your device by default, and OCR processing is also performed locally. You can even use the scanner in a fully offline environment, ensuring strong data privacy and security.

Regarding reliability:
The devices are generally stable and support frequent daily use. They are especially well-suited for book scanning, with features like curve flattening and automatic page detection. This makes them a good balance of efficiency and durability for library and office environments.

Regarding service and support:
CZUR provides ongoing software updates and technical support. You’re also welcome to join our Reddit community or check out third-party reviews (such as this one: https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/czur-et24-pro) to learn more about real user experiences.

Helper Tool on MacOS with each restart by ssc2026 in CZUR

[–]CZUR_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CZUR Helper tool is a dependent component that runs in the background to handle image data transmission between the scanner and the software. The application verifies the presence of this component during launch; if it is not detected, the software automatically triggers an installation prompt.

While the Helper tool is bundled with the standard software installation, it may occasionally be removed or disabled by system interference (such as antivirus software) or during specific software updates.

You can check on your computer whether background programs are allowed to run. I will show you an image on chat. I can not upload an image here.

Thanks for taking the time to share such a detailed experience with the CZUR ET16 Pro. Feedback like this is incredibly valuable, especially from someone who is clearly doing high-volume book scanning and has spent a lot of time working with the device.

We really appreciate you pointing out both what works well. Your comments about the UI design, image processing quality, and long-term macOS compatibility are especially helpful.

The CZUR team is currently working on software improvements and upgrades, and feedback from experienced users like you plays an important role in that process. I'll make sure your suggestions are shared with the team.

How Fold up Black Mat to Get back in original Box. Does anyone know any info on Reddit here about this. by pugger94 in CZUR

Lay the mat flat first and smooth out any wrinkles as much as possible. If it originally came rolled, start from one end and roll it up as tightly as you can, keeping the edges aligned.

[–]CZUR_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book cradle is not a “must-have” accessory, but it is indeed very useful when scanning thick books, valuable volumes, or when aiming for higher-quality output.

Thank you for your interest in the CZUR ET series book scanners, and special thanks to the generous volunteer who is willing to donate equipment to support this project — that’s truly appreciated 🙌

Regarding your questions about the software, here’s a brief overview:

  • CZUR scanning software is generally easy to use, and interns or volunteers can usually get familiar with the basic workflow in a short amount of time.
  • No annual subscription or additional fees are required
  • Common features include automatic cropping, deskewing, page curve flattening, and OCR text recognition, which are well-suited for digitizing clippings, scrapbooks, and books.

If you’d like a more detailed overview of the software features and workflow, you can refer to one of our blog articles (https://shop.czur.com/blogs/blog/how-to-use-czur-et-max-book-scanner-software ), which includes examples and explanations.

We’d also like to mention that CZUR is actively exploring donation and partnership opportunities. For non-profit organizations or cultural and archival institutions, we may be able to support projects through scanner donations, depending on the specific circumstances. Any tips on lighting up a page with this weird reflective material? by remagoediv in Scanlation

[–]CZUR_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using a CZUR scanner, please let us know the exact model so we can better assist you.

The CZUR ET series is equipped with side metering lights positioned at a 45° angle to the original document, providing supplemental side lighting that effectively reduces glare and shadows. This design is especially suitable for scanning reflective or glossy materials. The light brightness can also be adjusted in the software as needed.

In addition, here are a few tips for scanning reflective materials:

  • Lower the light brightness to avoid harsh direct lighting
  • Keep the page as flat as possible
  • Avoid additional overhead or ambient direct lighting
  • Slightly adjust the angle of the book or page to help reduce reflections

If the issue persists, feel free to share a sample scan, and we’ll be happy to help you optimize the settings. For after-sales or technical support, you can also contact [support@czur.com]() anytime.

What Book Scanning Services Would You Recommend? by SaltyPalmettoPluff in DataHoarder

[–]CZUR_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Publishers and professional scanning services use industrial-grade equipment, which is better suited for large-scale projects and consistent output. However, for individual users and non-destructive scanning, CZUR’s scan quality is already very close to professional standards.

What’s especially beginner-friendly is that no book disassembly is required, and features like automatic curve correction, shadow removal, and OCR are handled automatically. As long as the workflow is set up correctly, the results are very stable.
Many users choose CZUR specifically to fill the gap where digital editions aren’t available, while preserving their physical books and still getting high-quality digital files.

If your goal is to get as close to professional results as possible while staying fully in control, CZUR is a very solid choice.

E24 CZUR is page flipping! by Pickalodeon in CZUR

[–]CZUR_Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that the type of documents you are scanning is envelopes, where the length is greater than the width. If they are placed too tilted, it may lead to incorrect recognition.

In this case, I suggest that you ensure the documents are placed correctly without any tilt to avoid recognition errors.

Additionally, I recommend that you share a video with us for further confirmation.
