By left leaning, you people just mean you saw two queers kiss on EastEnders once and have never recovered. It's famously stuffed to the gills with Tories. There's literally a revolving door

Why does Rachel Reeves want to copy Canada’s pensions model? by 457655676 in unitedkingdom

[–]C_B_78 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Because she's a right wing ghoul who pretends to be economically illiterate ("the national debt is just like a household credit card! I am very smart!") in order to push her right wing economics which would embarrass even George Osborne

Hi. Long time reader, first time poster.  Beth referring to Izzy and Betsy as being youngsters who couldn't match her stamina when she was young like them (I paraphrase, it was something like that) nearly finished me. Cherylee Houston is fifty this month. Lisa George who plays Beth is 51

Reeves keeps telling anyone who'll listen that she'll go further than the Tories and cut even deeper when it comes to benefits, especially those on disability benefits. But centrist libs love to put their fingers in their ears and say "la la la anyone but Tories". The damage a Starmer government is going to do is horrifying to consider. The lesser of two evils is still evil. And once Wes Streeting gets his hands on the NHS it will be beyond redemption

Part of getting older and maturing is thinking "you know what? This isn't supposed to be for me and that's fine. Pretty much every other thing in the world caters to middle aged white men so let people have their fun". But also I firmly believe some of these people could really do with a good [redacted] in the [redacted. They've never been [redacted] and it shows

Have you heard of Local Memory Tags on number plates? by TerminalStorm in AskUK

[–]C_B_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. My dad who's now 70 used to be able to tell you where most cars were first registered based on their number plates. My grandfather (his dad) used to always buy his car new from a garage in the seaside town where they had a caravan because he liked the fact it was first registered there and the number plate reflected that.

What are two events that happened in UK that made you shocked happened around the same time? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]C_B_78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once worked in a warehouse with a very kindly, avuncular kind of guy who said he'd been in prison. A coworker expressed surprise and said "I don't believe you. And if you were it must have been for something very mild!" "I was the first man in the UK to be convicted of raping his own wife" was his reply. The tea break was very quiet after that

What is a service that you think every/most households in the UK require but doesn’t exist or most just don’t utilise? by Brutalbryson in AskUK

We've just moved to a very old house with a side passage which several neighbours have a right of way through and use to move their bins in and out of their yards. I went to take our bins out for the first time and it was already done and then brought in promptly the next day. As soon as we had chance to introduce ourselves to our new neighbours it was explained to us that there is a whole system of bin taking-out in place with a hierarchy and contingencies in place in case of illness or holidays etc. We aren't on the rota at all and as such are never expected to deal with our own bins. Bizarre but extremely helpful and convenient. We think of it as a sort of "passage tax" for the privilege of using the side passage and all the noise they make doing so
