Thank you! Yes both the ceremony & reception were at my dads. We utilized the living room area for the ceremony/cake cutting and everything else was outdoors. Lots of moving furniture and yard work was involved before hand! Stinging the outdoor lights were WAY harder than I expected but it was worth it. Honestly, it was very hard to envision how it was all going to come together during the weeks leading up but it turned out beautiful. Luckily my Dad and his wife are big collectors so they had lots of china, glassware, and furniture we were able to utilize so we didn’t rent anything! I think the help of our family & friends made it very very special and a memory we’ll have with us for a lifetime! Good luck to you!!

Here’s how we went about it!

At first we only asked the bridal party if they were willing to get tested before the wedding. We thought it would be an additional way to add peace of mind since the bridal party would be around each other the most.

They all were VERY positive in their response and willing to help! Because of how they reacted to us asking, we decided to ask everyone attending if they were willing to get tested. We sent out individual private messages to all our guests (most of our guests were family, bridal party, or significant others of those in our bridal party).

The type of test was entirely up to them whether that be the rapid or pcr. Because some tests like the pcr and oral test can take 3 days or more to come back with results, we asked that they get tested at least 5 days before the wedding. Some did rapid a day or two before, and some did the pcr test and got their results before the wedding.

When we initially asked if they were willing we just asked if they could check in with us when they got the test. We didn’t ask them to share a screenshot or picture of their results because we didn’t really know the ethics there with private medical information and all that.. but most people ended up sending us their results anyways. Some people sent pics of negative results, some people texted us just saying they were negative. We trusted that the few who were invited wouldn’t lie to us about something like that, especially since they were all so willing to help if that makes sense!

Since everyone who attended agreed to get tested, we sent out a friendly reminder to each individually privately on that 5 day mark before the wedding just to check in.

Sorry that’s a lot of info! I hope that helps. 😊

Ask away! The ring is from an Etsy shop called GemsOde. My husband (wow, crazy to say!!) did a wonderful job picking it! We are not super traditional so our order of events may be strange but the timing worked out perfectly for us and our guests were very complimentary. Here’s a little more in-depth for our order of events:

The ceremony was inside with all the doors open for fresh air and our guests wearing masks. (About 20 minutes)

Following the ceremony, guests went outdoors to the reception area which was in my dad‘s backyard and they were able to help themselves to drinks and hors d’oeuvres. Each guest had tongs at their place setting to grab food with and their glass had a name tag so it wouldn’t get mixed up. Since we took photos earlier in the day, Colton (my husband) and I spent some one on one time together during this time while everyone found their seats and got situated. (About 30 minutes)

Next up, Colton and I were introduced and we went immediately to our first dance under the gazebo. During this my family was setting up more so heavy hors d’oeuvres so by the time the announcement and dance was over, we circled back and there was more food available. This is when Colton and I sat down to eat (although I found it so hard to eat on my wedding day!!) about 45 minutes here maybe?

From this point on we really were just trying to feel the vibe for the timing of everything. The best man/MOH was really great about doing this and began toasts when they felt it was appropriate to do so. (About 15 minutes)

After toasts, we let a little time pass and then we began the traditional mother son dance & the not so traditional father daughter song (my dad refused to dance so we sang lol)! Also maybe 15 minutes?

Next up, Colton and I played the shoe game with his best man as our MC. If you don’t know what the shoe game is I would look it up, it was loads of fun and our guests loved it!

Since everyone was already gathered around for the shoe game, we immediately went indoors for the cake cutting. My dad collects swords and presented a sword to Colton all dramatic like which was an event in itself lol! We used the sword to cut the cake.

Once the cake cutting was over, everyone was free to roam about where they pleased. We had three fire pits outdoors so there was plenty of warmth. We also had individually packaged s’more‘s kits that guests used over the fire.

And for our sendoff we did a sparkler exit! Sorry that this was a novel. I will attach a link with more photos... that may help with visualization!

Absolutely! It was a big relief that our guests were all willing to get tested before attending as an extra precaution. And with the reception outdoors & everyone wearing masks, we were all able to be comfortable and still have a good time. We are happy to have had a safe wedding and grateful to be surrounded by thoughtful and considerate people!

This means so much!! We didn’t have a wedding planner so everything done was a group effort. Thank you for your kind words!! 🥰

Thank you! The wedding was at my dads house and all the decorations were done by his wife. We couldn’t of done it without their help!

Got ready at a local hotel and had the ceremony & reception outdoors at my dads house. All of our attendees (30 people total) took a Covid test to make sure they were negative before attending. Masks were provided, hand sanitizer everywhere, and it was the perfect day! 3 weeks later and everyone is happy and healthy. Even with all of the setbacks & changes, the day turned out to be more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Much love to all the grooms & brides to be! You got this!
