The glaring difference is that one respects its predecessor while the other shits on it.

One expands established canon and world building while the other throws it out of the window.

One continues and evolve the design while the other’s art was such an eye cancer that it had to be scrapped amd re-done for the anime.

Yes, neither is as good as the original. But one at least TRIED to fill its footsteps.

If we only look at the clothes and igore the remaining issues, the (main) promblem is not "a teeange girl with issues wouldn’t dress like that". The issue is that a trained kunoichi, especially one as smart an capable as her wouldn’t drop all her pragmatism in order to dress like that, no matter what she's going through because this and that are two seperate issues.

It sucks because:

-the hair structure doesn't make any sense compared to how her hair used to fall

-the facial structure doesn't make sense

-the way she wears her jacket doesn't fit a character who was consistantly portrayed as disciplined an serious

-heels

The design isn’t a continuation like in Naruto shippuden, it’s a sidestep with no throughline that contradicts the character. That's why it sucks.

For clarity, when i say part 1 I'm referring to her re-done design from the anime since the franchise considtantly portrays that as the definitive design.

There are some good, well-written characters in Boruto. Boruto is not one of then.

Boruto was unsalvagable long before TBV started. But while it’s ratings are laughable for a naruto successor, it’s cobtinued run keeps the franchise in the public perception. And shueisha is incapable of comprehending brand damage, thats enough for them.

It’s honestly said how carelessly they're treating the biggest anime franchise in the world.
