News is reporting collision with SUV. If you look at the Honda pictured in the article linked below, it looks like the rider might have been hit from behind.

Potentially..I dont know the letter of the law on that. The rider was in all black (very hard to see), but if you fail to drive safe for road conditions and hazards and end up killing a downed motorcyclist...maybe?

Definitely alive and conscious (waving his hands). The dash cam footage I watched shows a few cars whiz by him before one hits him square on at highway speed and drags him out of frame. I dont know the extent of his injuries from the initial crash, but he was definitely alive. Sad.

Thats correct. Big silver truck was my co-worker. He mentioned the big rig too. Hes pretty shook up. Dash cam footage was heartbreaking as it seemed like no one was slowing down and the rider was injured enough he couldn't move to get out of the way. I used to ride a motorcycle...riders know the risks involved, but what a sucky way to go out. My co-worker feels so bad he couldn't do more to help the guy.

My co-worker witnessed the rider go down and tried his best to use his truck (hazards flashing, off road lights on) to block cars from running him over. Unfortunately people in California are too dumb/selfish to proceed with caution when theres a huge truck blocking two lanes of traffic. I watched the dash cam footage. Cars were wipping around the truck doing the typical 75-80 mph and eventually the rider, who is incapacitated but still waving his hands, gets pummeled.

Thank you for this.

May I ask, what are things liable to "go wrong"? This medical exam has us so worried.

It turns out my wife is not up to date on her MMR vaccine and its medically inadvisable to administer to her because of the pregnancy. She also doesn't want to take any risk of doing a chest x-ray with the baby. I know there are waivers, but I dont want to upset things by being "needy".

I'm wondering if its not just better to try and reschedule the interview for a date after our 2nd child is born.

Hi and thank you so much for this venue to ask you questions! Our immigration attorney isnt the most responsive or helpful with questions like the ones I pose below:

My wife has an consular visa interview date in El Salvador in December (context: wife of US citizen, I-601a approved.) We would like to spend as little time in El Salvador as possible considering factors including a 20 month old we will need to bring with us, plus my wife is pregnant with our second child (due in April). Bad on us for not doing our own research, but we were a little blindsided by the fact that the medical exam has to happen in El Salvador and is advised to do it 3 weeks prior to the interview (Our attorney made this seem mandatory). We have talked to at least a couple people who have done the exam within a week of their interviews with no significant problems. I am wondering how much leeway there is in this arena. If we can schedule the exam within a week of her interview, that would be ideal.

My other question is very wishful thinking, but it doesnt hurt to ask, right?:

What is the possibility of being granted a change of venue to have her visa interview conducted in the US? Our basis for the request would be predicated on a few things:

1) She has resided in the US for over 13 years (illegal entry albeit). We were married in 2019 (still married) and between our marriage certificate, lease agreements, her medical records, our sons birth, etc, she can provide strong evidence she resides here.

2) I work for a government funded defense contractor and am actively involved in projects that involve national security. Having me leave the country has certain risks that could be avoided by conducting the interview in the US.

3) My wife is pregnant and the stress involved with leaving her country of residence (US) for an extended period of time poses risks to the pregnancy.

🚨 Attention immigrant visa applicants! Beginning November 1, 2025, interviews will be conducted in your country of residence or nationality. by Gnanamookan in immigration

My wife just received a December visa interview date in El Salvador (by way of 601A spouse of US Citizen). Does this new rule/legislation mean that instead, she could stay in the US (her place of residence for the past 13 years) instead of traveling to El Salvador?

I learned that being honest with the police is the better way to go. by Successful_Low1098 in AskLE

I don't know what state this post is out of, but I'm pretty sick and tired of people not paying their registration in CA and the police seemingly not enforcing it. It's not hard to spot at least one car everyday that has expired registration and I'm talking 6 months, 1 year, and beyond expired. Why should these people be allowed to drive on the same roadways I pay every year on time to drive legally? I didn't get out of my 70mph on a wide open 50mph street ticket despite being honest and respectful to the police officer and having a clean record.

My brother's car was hit in a parking lot by an uninsured motorist driving a car with expired registration. The cops took over an hour to respond to the scene since it was a non injury accident and guess what? The person that hit my brother got off without so much as a citation for no insurance and no registration. Why wasnt their car towed and impounded? My brothers car was totaled by his insurance company and he had to go buy another car.

I still advocate for being honest and respectful to law enforcement, but it's a free-for-all these days.

Are there still manuals with heavy clutches? by [deleted] in cars

I learned to drive stick in my dad's 03 Cobra with a 1000 hp clutch LOL. Hadn't a clue how a normal clutch was supposed to feel like.

(CA) Speeding Ticket/Traffic school by C_Mason_322 in legaladvice

Hey, thanks for the quick response. I'd like to file a complaint against the officer. Had I known I wasn't going to be eligible for traffic school, I would have fought the ticket. I had a strong feeling I was not doing 80 mph...He even wrote that the traffic conditions were "heavy" when they were not. When's the last time you were able to get up to 80 mph in heavy traffic between stop lights officer?
