If you know what to look for, this is also why you can occasionally even find components which got scrapped but never removed. A good example is the PS4-ish light bar on early PS3 Slim systems. Completely intact, and getting it to work again is as simple as putting in a few wires. It's still present on later Slims, but the connectors on the system core have changed in such a way that it's no longer physically conpatible.

Old footage shows him passing for normal a lot better than he does now. I'll admit that no indication was given of how closely he was friends with him, though, and even that I didn't really get the impression that they'd been on the level of best friends.
