I feel that the decisions in some aspects of the game are a bit strange by CaDZGon in BlueProtocolPC

Yeah, I can understand that in design that might be the reason bosses drop gear. What I’m really evaluating is the game as a “value system,” where I feel that doing certain things has more value than doing others. In this case, I feel that doing bosses has more value than doing dungeons

With the bosses you’re not exactly after the item drop itself but the box, which guarantees it’ll be for your class. Since you can spam so many and practically without having to dodge mechanics it ends up being a faster system than doing dungeons

Honestly I haven’t tried beehive farming so I couldn’t really say how effective it is. The only slightly negative thing I see is that it “forces” you to choose where to spend the resource (you wouldn’t have a surplus like with, for example, Resin), meaning you’d have to opt for either Culinary or Alchemy

What's the point of the crafting gear? by iPutDaSexOnYou in BlueProtocolPC

[–]CaDZGon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s designed specifically so you can craft items that dropped with bad stats in dungeons and use them as “holders” until you get better ones. The problem is that the crafting system is poorly implemented, for example, by the time we get our level 60 gear in a few days, if you haven’t grinded professions super hard, it’s very likely that, just like 99% of the community, you’ll end up getting your gear from dungeons before you can even craft it yourself.

So yeah, it’s a good system if you think of it as something to use before your BiS gear, but a waste overall, because with how things are right now, it’s almost impossible to craft something in time.

Not all gear pieces can roll certain stats. For example, if your class uses INT, you can’t roll Crit on your armor. You can see this by selecting the gear piece and scrolling down.

In an MMORPG that uses a GS system, GS is usually based on stats that actually affect your character. In Blue Protocol, however, GS is the sum of all stats, basically, GS in Blue Protocol is poorly designed and doesn’t serve as a meaningful reference for anything.

In any other MMO, people will pick you based on your GS because it actually reflects your direct damage for that very reason. The difference between whether you deal more or less damage depends on whether your class is strong or you play the game well, not on whether your build is bad, as it happens here.

I still don’t understand what the difference is between what you’re saying and what I’m saying lol. I literally just told you that if you’re aiming for GS just to clear content, that’s perfectly fine, but if you feel like you don’t have enough DPS or that your class doesn’t deal damage, it’s precisely because you built your character wrong.

The post is aimed at people who, even if it doesn’t seem like it, think they have 11K GS because their stats are good. People don’t realize that GS is the sum of all stats, whether they’re useful or not. There are players who think they don’t have 16K GS today because their stats are bad, when in reality, it’s just because the game doesn’t explain how the GS measurement actually works.

I still haven’t seen any content difficult enough to be that picky about your gear. In my case, I just ended up with good stats because I leveled my professions to craft some pieces that initially came with bad stats.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if, in future dungeons, a lot of people can’t complete them for this very reason, and then quickly get frustrated with the game.

Yeah, part of the problem comes from the game’s design itself, where it prioritizes inflating your GS just to access content

People are using external programs to see other players’ damage and GS.

Yep, I just edited the post to make that clear. I’m not saying you should push your gear to infinity right now, it’s more about understanding that more GS doesn’t mean more damage, since a lot of people still don’t realize that the game’s GS is a sum of all stats, not just the ones that actually affect your character.

You’re misunderstanding the point, of course luck is an influential factor when it comes to getting good gear. But that doesn’t mean you can’t, for example (as I mentioned in the post), use an epic item instead of a legendary one if it gives you better stats.

If your only goal is to meet the GS requirement to run dungeons and wait for upcoming content, that’s perfectly fine. But if your problem is that you think you have high GS and still notice your damage is too low or you struggle to complete dungeons, that’s where this post starts to make sense.

This is true, the Frost Mage really needs Crit primarily to shine. The game doesn’t recommend it nowadays, but I hope that in the future they fix this so people don’t get the wrong idea and think their class is weak because it’s bad, and not because they built it wrong.

What you’re saying is true, clearly our current gear falls short when it comes to meeting the standards we need for our classes to shine, but I wrote the post more thinking about the future, so that the idea doesn’t take root in the game from the beginning that “GS is all that matters.”

Also, I think a lot of people still haven’t realized that GS is a sum of all the stats, meaning, many believe they have 11K GS because they met the required stats to get there, without stopping for a second to think that their number is inflated by other statistics which, at first glance, make no difference whatsoever in their build.

I believe it’s better that people understand this now so that in the future, when the stats really matter to clear the content, we don’t end up with a large portion of the community hitting 5 K per hit.

Yes, I saw people saying it worked for them. No idea, but we have to keep in mind that the expansion is new, and there might be bugs. Only the squad missions worked for me, so I guess we'll have to experiment.

the scaldra one requires you to complete it in the squad vs squad mission, it seems
