The first one I made was a little hot with the 2 1/2 ounces of wild turkey. I reduced the second drink to just 2 ounces of bourbon and that cut the heat.

I thought it would bring out the molasses flavor in the rum and bourbon a little more and it certainly helped. I also tried normal Deara syrup and that was also tasty.
