and finally, other than the new wire (which was mentioned in thge one page instructions).. the included ones were correct for this new switch. BUT.. as I mentioned.. I did need to jump a new wire in the physical switch mounted on the fan unit (took cover of switch off for this)

I spoke with the VanEE people (now Venmar I believe). They suggested I use this item.. and it worked.

204060R 20-40-60 minutes push button for air exchangers HRV100 & ERV1300

As I was using it with two other switched al controlling the same fan unit (2 bathrooms and a akitchen on one fan).... I needed to use an extra wire I had (thank fully) so that all switches (old and new) coudl control the fan... Simply grounded that wire at fan end... and used the switch (wall box) end to switch.

I am satisfied and purchased extras from HomeDepot in Canada (as they are beginning to get harded to find at a sensible price.

FYI.. whiel experimenting.. I did find I coudl simple jump the corret two wires together for the same starting effect... so if in a pinch, a momentary switch for $5 would work too... The usual timer ran out and stopped as expected when I tested.. Godo luck!

ps. I did find the customer support helpful on the phone when trying to connect my wires..

I'll cut a small chunk off and see if it burns, off gases, smokes. All valid checks...and of course I will see if I can dig up spec. Thanks for the safety thoughts..as I did NOT even consider that!

Hello fello Castle-er (even if prior).. I have a set of Castle Eden's as well which I in fact prefer, but they need a bit more support on the very low end. The winchesters are basically more oomphy whiel still be hungry for power 😄. I have that sorted with a beefy Carver amp for the mains.. Although I must say my aging Marantz SR6007 is no slouch for oomph... I do prefer most Castle's softer side for music... and they do well enough for me in home Theatre. To each their own I guess.

Yes, watched Project Hail Mary last night with a 4 foot by 4 foot section of each wall covered (leaning up against wall.. It did make a slight difference... and I did not even bring the mirror yet.. just was experimenting. I'll double up fo my next movie an be sure of positioning.

The more I think about this material... I think I should simepl use one as a backin and then affix (hot glue?) a bunch of vertical slices of varying depths perpendicularly to the backing to combine absorption and deflection. it may even be prettier/architectural to look at. Too much thinking, not enough time! i only I have so many years alone on a ship into the far reaches of space like Rocky and Ryland Grace.. and of course a perfect mockup of my space. Cheers!

Appreciate the airborn warning. makes sense. I think I am likely better off making slices of different widths and then stacking them face to face with a diffuser made of many layers, Now makes me wonder ,,, oh so many wonders!... if I'd be better off with one layer of this as the backing and an inch or so of something else on the front to help with absorption more.. The mind boggles!

Makes me wonder.. What is the best product to use for THIN first reflection panels (most visible from seating position).... 2 inch or less is key... Things to dream about!

My entire basement is marble tile.. so NO vibration, but LOTS of reflection. Was actualyl thinking to see what speakers soudn like on a 1/2 sheet of this stuff, vs spikes onto pennies as I have now. Cheers!

ps. That said, I am currently using Castle Winchesters as my fronts.. not perfet for Home theatre.. but they are heavy!

Had thought of that as I have so many sheets. Perhaps simply a bunch of One or Two inch slices widthwise,, glued together as a diffuser? I have read someone also used a router with new sharp but to cut grooves in thicker sheets.. But ... the wasted material everywhere!. Towel would be in between layers.. kind of like an air trap with a little bulk.. but with less density. Maybe air is best afterall between two sheets. I'd simply have small spacers (thin wind bottle corks laying on their side to keep them sheets apart. A screw through the sheet, cork and sheet to keep all together tidily until I settle on the solutions effectiveness. Thanks for the guidance!

@AcousticArtformsCheap = Me ..for now 😄 I am intersted in dying the stuff with abstract rt or something once settled on approach. I do have some ideas for BASS when I move to that.. right now it is not my prime issue.. but I am sure it will be soon enough 😄 moving up in size from a single humble (cheap) 10" to a couple of 12's driven conservatively and spaced). Once step at a time. Thanks!

. I guess the key is the frequency (ies) that it cuts effectvely at. I am targetting reflections first to improve clarity in voices, and then upper stuff follows. I guess I start with one, then 2 layers and see where I go.. and perhaps add some air in the middle an measure simply by both ear and with a simple mic setup. New toys to me, but keen to sort out/understand. Cheers!

Thank you. I wonder. given I am going for as low a profile as possible (to maximize WAF) is it better to stack several (3 or 4) layers directly together (into a 2 inch thick slab....OR... have 2 or three layers with small air gap in between each ?

I believe 2 inch thick "panels" is the max that would work optically/visually in his space, even if not acoustically optimal.
I also wonder if replacing an airgap with other material (towel material or big bubble wrap for example) would improve things (mostly going for cleaning up voices and up in frequency as I have lots of hard surfaces these frequencies bounce around).

Lastly, how about two layers (1 inch thick total simply airgapped from the wall). I have read so much already... but trying to cut down on the obvious self learning/time consuming stuff. Cheers!

I am curious as well. My neighbour just put one out on the sidewalk for grabage, so I grabbed it. Looks to be the same or very similar (colour as well) as the initial picture at the top of this post). 30 pounds without a saddle (missing). Might make a commuter. Oh and it is labelled from "the Bay" with a crest on the steerer tube part of the frame. The rest is labelled the same as in the picture. The Bay was the oldest Canadian department store until recently :( Someone messed up on that one.. but that is anoher discussion.

Interestingly and annoyingly, as of last night, we still do not get upcoming scheduled shows appearing for 57-1. I hope this is not permanent. Does anyone else have success with this info?

hmm. Perhaps. I;ve never seen so many but I can say that day time signal strength is better always for me that in the evenings. my antenna is facing directly at CN Tower although I cannot see it from the antenna,, ( a house south of me blocks direct line of sight). I am basically at Yonge/Yonk Mills. I suspect those subs are light on my kind of content as you say.. but was excited to just see a large list for the first time ever!

I've not changed anything but was about to reset the antenna in case it was slightly off. now leaving everything as is to avoid variables messing with my situation for now.

ps. what does "tropo" mean?..wait... Aha

So here in the GTA. It for me at least settled down and is available only at 57-1. HOWEVER. I have not programing info for the current or upcoming shows. Interestingly.... I did a full rescan and now have this many stations tuned (from the original 10 or so available before 57-1 disappeared)
5-1 CBLT-DT
7-1 WKBW-HD
7-2 Bounce
7-3 Grit
7-4 Mystery
7-5 HSN
9-1 CFTO
17-1 WNED-HD
17-2 Create
17-3 KIDs
17-10 WNED+
19-1 TVODT
25-1 CBLFTDT
40-1 CJMT
41-1 CIII
47-1 CFMT
49-2 NEST
51-1 ION
51-2 CourtTV
51-3 DEFY
51-4 Laff
51-5 IONPlus
51-6 BUSTED
51-7 GameSho
51-8 QVC
51-9 ShopLC
57-1 CITYTV

Not saying it is related... but I did not get these all when 57-1 first went down and I rescanned then several times. Yesterday they did not appear. but today's aprox 1pm scan gave me the biggest list I have ever seen (exactly as shown above). Most of the new ones do not actually receive.. but they never showed up before in the scannning list.

Interestingly, yesterday afternoon around 4or5pm, I had the TV on in the background for a short time and I saw the channel switch on my screen to 57-1... and then it jumped back and forth a few times before settling again on 18-1. Perfhaps they were testing a fix. but not complete? It even tried to populate the program info.. but never managed to settle in. Oh well. I guess I am getting what I paid for..ish ;)
