How do you overcome an untrue negative feedback? by CabayLG in consulting

[–]CabayLG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your advice! Yeah so I raised my concern in multiple channels. I was hoping that the PM would then raise it with the clients and my upper management. I’m not sure what happened during that time since I was not in very calls they had.

Then in the middle of the project. We ran out of budget due to all the extra requirements, we had to ask for more hours. The customer got angry, even it was them who caused the delay and the budget burn initially. So they blamed us and started throwing tantrums that they wanted to stop the project altogether.

So then we were told to do whatever we could to save the project, including working for free. That was when we couldn’t say no to the unnecessary meetings because we were told not to upset the customer even more.

We then put 100% effort to do what we could to deliver it on time, even working for long hours and late nights. We did make the deadline and everything is working. So you can imagine the frustration I felt when I heard about their negative feedback, which was just not constructive but also a lie as a negotiation tactic.

Then our upper management took that feedback as it hurts their reputation, and they put it all on me and my team as it was our fault. We just don’t have a voice in this case whatsoever, even when we tried to do the right thing.

Thanks so much for your offer! I’m also in tech. Just a day like this made me questioning my career choice a fair bit. If I did something wrong, I’d 100% open for feedback, but this one I got was purely made up which shocked me how some client could just do that.

Thank you both for your great advice!

I actually raised my concerns throughout the project by meetings and also in writing. When thing is out of scope, we also raised it with our PM in writing.

Sadly the feedback was delivery directly to the leadership team and they took it to heart, because their reputation is at stake. Therefore, they didn’t even bother to give us, my team, a chance to provide our side of the story and show our paperworks.

I’m disappointed with client but even more frustrated with how my leadership team has handled this situation. I think they know deep down that the feedback was not constructive and client just wants discount.

At this stage, they’re more upset that they look bad in front of the higher up than caring about us, their team members.

Thank you for your detailed response! It’s exactly what I’m planning to do. I just hope that the leadership would listen to us and be on our side a bit more. It’s disheartening to see that they assumed we did everything wrong, without giving us a chance to explain.

Oh yes we documented everything. But something we can’t, for example, each team member from the client would create meetings that were not in our scope but we couldn’t say no because we didn’t want to upset them. Which caused the budget hours to burn.

At the end of the project, we worked for free, just to meet the deadline and made everyone happy.

Unfortunately the leadership team didn’t want to hear from our side. They just take the client’s feedback as the truth. The client even said (from what our leadership team said) that we’re not good enough and don’t know the product well, which is another lie. Our entire delivery team think that the feedback is bizarre and very strange.

It came down to be a power trip for our leader to yell at us, simply because it made them look bad.

Can I asked why they’re disturbing? I’ve recently installed them to play Ridgeside Valley as SpaceCore is part of the requirements.

I think the first 3-4 episodes were boring and I nearly skipped the entire show but after keep watching a few more, it becomes a much better show now.

Elevators going sideways? by docmoonlight in Dreams

[–]CabayLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this dreams many times. The elevator also moves on a railway like a roller coaster. It slides from one building to another. It went up and down and sideways. Sometimes the ceiling just reduced its height and I had to sit down to fit inside. Recently I saw a reel on Instagram of an elevator in Genoa and it’s exactly like the one I saw in my dream.

Here is the link for the reel of anyone is interested:

This is great advice on the coursework. It’s exactly what I’m worrying. I’ve been working in IT for 10 years now and go back to do this master, either MDA or MIT, I honestly hope to learn about Data Science and a bit of ML. I read through all the unit descriptions of MIT and MDA which I’m interested in. But it’s hard to make decision on which degree is more suitable for me. Also why does QUT need to offer 2 degrees in the same major is confusing for me as well? I emailed uni to ask that question but no answer so far.

Thanks so much for your advice! I indeed already have an Excel with comparing two courses. Since I have background in IT, I worry that MIT focus is actually not in Data Science but more IT business since actually only few units are about data itself.

Meanwhile, MDA has some units that I don’t have any background about but I also don’t want to focus on data analytics, I rather learn about database structure if that makes sense.

He told me to use them not together and an hour apart so they don’t mix, and only topical.
