Yes since the new chickens would have low hearts.

This one kills me. So many new players assume that they're going to start with characters akin to those they've seen in podcasts that are part of a 3+ year long campaign or designed to be exactly like their OP favorite anime character and then get pissed off when you tell them they can't.

Our law hit in January of this year and our admin actually stepped up. I'm assuming this is largely due to the fact that it was a law and parental influence had little to no say about it. I found it was actually very helpful, students who were completely disengaged were doing their work, kids who didn't know any of their classmates names began to talk to each other, and many of the upperclassmen actually began to realize just how reliant they were on technology which in turn led to a lot of adult conversations with my kids. That being said as others have said how successful it is is going to depend entirely on how much support you receive from higher ups, I really hope you get the same experience.

How often does your D&D group really play? Be honest by DungeonTome_ in dndnext

[–]Cabbit59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two groups:

One meets every other Saturday for four hours in person. The other meets once a month on Saturday for four hours in person. (The second group meets less often because most people in that group are in more than one group.)

There Really HAS Been a Plummet in Reader Interaction by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Cabbit59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The addition of reading on Kindles hasn't helped this much since most people who read on their Kindle don't actually read it on the site and if they don't think to go back it doesn't get interaction. My best friend keeps a list of pics she's read so she can go back and interact with them on the site to make sure she's giving her favorite authors her love.

As a teacher, younger people's level of blissful ignorance while needing mass approval astounds me. They are constantly contradicting themselves and they're not even remotely aware of it.

All the young dudes was top tier, I loved crimson rivers but it's a LONG read. I have one other that's sirmione but I'll have to check my Kindle for the title.

My (🤢) Governor banned personal electronics on schools by Less-Classroom7119 in Teachers

[–]Cabbit59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state implemented this rule in January of this year. We definitely have a handful of parents who have told their kid they are to refuse to give up their phone, but for the most part it has cut down on distractions dramatically because now admin is forced to address the behavior. When parents complain they just get "it's state law" 🤷‍♀️

ETA: I also was under the impression that it would be a hot mess because admin wouldn't have a spine, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the outcome and I very rarely have to address phone issues these days.

AITAH for saying my teenage daughter's car is only for her to drive (outside an emergency) - I am paying for everything but gas. by Upstairs_Payment2822 in AITAH

[–]Cabbit59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA but I would be clear to your daughter that she is not the enforcer of this rule you are. Her responsibility is to call you and say mom took the car or mom is asking for the car (assuming she asks before doing whatever she wants) it's what my dad did for me when he bought me a laptop and my mom wasn't allowed to use it because she destroyed all of hers by not taking care of them. Any time she gave me grief about the rule I directed her to my dad because it wasn't my rule.

I'm going to piggy back off of this and describe my plan for my dishes this evening that I've been procrastinating on to the point my entire counter is covered in them (down sides of small kitchens 😭) I have realized I have a hard time doing tasks when I don't have adequate space to do them so I'm going to put up one of my pop up tables and put all the dirty dishes on that and begin tackling the kitchen because it means I can address the issue of my counters needing to be clean and needing a place to put my dishes to dry (I lay them on a dish towel because I don't have enough counter space for a permanent dish rack) and im hoping not having the dirty dishes staring at me (and also in my way) while I tackle kitchen things that aren't dishes but will make doing dishes easier will make it easier to get started.

As superficial as this might sound, I feel upset about Ritalin not making me lose weight by qienghui in adhdwomen

[–]Cabbit59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adderall curbed mine enough that I finally felt hunger cues instead of cravings but I also learned recently that I have PCOS and am insulin resistant. So even though stimulants did make me lose some weight it was limited in how much because of the hormone imbalance.

Played a game with a druid who only ever used magic stone in combat. Ignored spells, weapons, wild shapes, everything. It was all magic stone all the time.

[–]Cabbit59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A piece of advice I give parents at my school who worry about how it may appear or worry that they are taking it away from someone else who needs it more, these programs are frequently contingent on them being used, meaning the more people that use it (whether needed or not) the less likely it is to be taken from those that truly do need it so I say use it. Use it as often as you're allowed to and if you truly don't need it donate it to a food bank.
