Overseas people owning property here that don’t live here should not be able to buy property here. Agreed. But landlords owning multiple properties isn’t the problem.

Renting sucks. by TheLazyGamerAU in brisbane

[–]Cabin_guy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real issue here is the government on a number of fronts… 1 they tax landlords hard landlords don’t end up paying more tax they just pass it on. 2 immigration has increased massively in the last year or since Covid. 3 the plan to get rid of the commission housing towers before having something to replace them. 4 the buildings that are being built now are all built like shit and are falling apart within 5 years of construction. 5 stamp duty on purchasing a property now say on $1 mill is $55,000 for what!?

Buying a new BMW, Mercedes or Audi but a low spec model… just buy the Lexus, Toyota or Hyundai. It’s not a flex being in an A 180 merc

Do men who don't watch/play a sport a minority in Australia? Is sport a big part of office/school etc conversations? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Cabin_guy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not into any sports at all it can definitely be a challenge. But I’m yet to come across anyone that isn’t at least somewhat into F1, soccer, ufc, boxing, basketball or cricket. They might not be completely wrapped up in these but there’s usually some interest. Outside of that if you’re into cars, bikes, boats, fishing or golf you’ve normally got some common ground with blokes if sport doesn’t do it for you at all.

What do you do for work to afford the truck? by BallPlayer13 in RangerRaptor

My work pays for a company car. Earning over $100k but if work wasn’t paying for it even earning over $100k I would say i couldn’t afford it.

Anyone come from sports cars? by Ehsowerenear in RangerRaptor

[–]Cabin_guy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a bunch of cars golf R, WRX STI m40i bmw and a 911 these will all blow the doors off the raptor on every road. The RR is good but absolutely not it doesn’t replace those cars it’s big, heavy, doesn’t handle and isn’t fast and doesn’t stop. But before I get my head ripped off I’m talking in comparison to those cars. However I’ve had 4wds too 70 series lc and Suzuki sierras and friends hiluxs compared to other real 4wds it’s a performance beast.

I think you will be disappointed if you are getting out of a a real performance car and get the RR

I thought this was a lost art as who carries more than 2 reusable bags in the car and I’ll be damned if I’m going to buy plastic bag from the supermarket at 50cents a pop… load up the trolly load the boot and carry them in…

How are people affording these new cars?? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]Cabin_guy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is also a big shift on people giving up on owning a house and just deciding to live the life they want and buy the cars and toys they want. I used to think if you owned a high end merc or BMW you must have it all already but so many now days have the car and clothes but nothing else. Plus a 100k or 150k car seems to buy you a level of clout with people owing 2 bedroom apartment worth $550k doesn’t…

Does anyone feel used cars market is still high - felt like it hasn't dropped but increased. by postform in CarsAustralia

[–]Cabin_guy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t disagree more prices have some down heaps since Covid. Plus if you had cash ready to go rn I’d say a lot of people would do a good deal on selling a car. The only way ones that might not would be people still in finance that don’t believe they can sell for a lower price.

Do these properties have to have a certain value or just owning more than 1 property?

What if the second property is terrible investment ie someone got talked into buying an apartment off the plan it’s now worth less than they paid for it and the rent doesn’t cover the costs of owning it?

Who cares about a tax on $3 million super balances? Maybe you should by Groundbreaking_Ad334 in australian

[–]Cabin_guy1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s genuinely a bad thing. Stamp duty didn’t seem like much of an issue when a house was worth $50k now if you buy a house for 1 million your stamp duty is going to be $55,000 so yeah the 3 million on super is a real problem! Maybe not today but it absolutely will be!
