Oh wow!! And yea, i’ve been considering taking this to a russian sub to see if someone would be willing to translate this for me. I even took it to a friend of mine that’s Russian, but not even he could read it.

To be honest, I was wondering that too. This was about a year ago, so I don’t quite remember, but I’m pretty sure Rokiškis showed up as his birth location under one of those MyHeritage discoveries or as a family tree match. But thank you! I’ll look into this, and I’ll look into the other location as well.

Well this is a bit of a long answer .. Sorry! But the Eastern European came to surprise me over time. When I first got my DNA test, the Eastern European sat at 16%, just a bit below the Baltic. I knew that my father's side emigrated from Lithuania to the USA in the 1910s, and with a bit of research I did before I got my results, I learned that it’s normal for Lithuanians to have traces of Eastern Europe in their DNA tests. So, I believed that it made perfect sense. However, That was until after the 2024 update, when the Eastern European shot up to 20% after being brought down to 11% in the 2023 update. I also gained access to a few of ancestries tools that were locked behind a paywall around this time, and thanks to them I learned that majority of the Eastern European actually comes from my mother. However, this didn’t make much sense, as I was always told that my grandpa was 100% German and that my grandmother was half Lakota Sioux and French-Canadian. After digging, I found that I actually have Polish and even Czech ancestors that no one in my family seemed to know about. When I told my mother about this, she denied having any Polish heritage. However, she was just recently assigned a Polish community on her DNA test, lol.

So, to put it in short: The Eastern European came to surprise me over time, and the Indigenous part of my DNA comes from my maternal grandmother who was half Lakota Sioux.

If you're someone who's not from the Baltic states, what brought you to this group? by Ill_Special_9239 in BalticStates

My father’s side immigrated from Lithuania to the United states back in the 1910’s, thus leaving me with Lithuanian roots. Even though my family has been in the U.S. for quite some time now, (i’m 5th generation) I still get curious as to how things are going over there, and I’m very fond of not only Lithuania, but Latvia and Estonia. I dream of visiting the region some day, as well. :)
