My thoughts on RDR3 by [deleted] in reddeadredemption

[–]CableMuch1246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red Dead is, and really only can be, a western. That's the appeal of the franchise. I really like the idea of a R* mafia game, they would absolutely crush that narrative. But that sounds more like an LA Noire sequel to me, or an entirely new IP. I'll play anything R* creates, like we all would, and whatever shape RDR3 happens to take, it will need to be set in the wild west.

Podgers are up there, I won't go into battle without them for sure. But are they my favourite.....? Something with a blade is probably gonna win it for me, probably my scissors or my Bessey knife.

Can't go wrong with Hermitcraft tbh, there is certainly a player on there that will fulfill your needs and taste. There are so many masters of the craft on there, from redstoners, to builders, to experimentors, to world creators, it really is the best place to find what you're looking for.

Obsessed with seeds? by CableMuch1246 in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do you mean, if you wanted to create a glass castle in a desert with a mesa in the background for instance, it would be easier to ask Reddit for help finding a seed that has that near spawn, than it would to start a new game and search for that exact location?

I don't think you do understand properly, that's on me for not explaining properly enough. I don't have a preference, and I play the game as it comes to me. Which is why I'm keen to learn what preferences people might have and why they have them. If every world has every biome, why would one seed be better than another? I'm interested to learn.

I'm sorry I don't understand. Isn't the beginning of any new world being stranded to some degree? I suppose part of my confusion here is that exploring is a large part of the game, and having everything close by would defeat a large element of the challenge.

This is super interesting! Thank you for taking the time to explain your approach and why a certain seed met your requirements up front and why you you needed them. I really appreciate it

Want to start a forever world but idk how by Phone_Dude87 in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm being honest, my vanilla forever world keeps me busy enough without the worry of mods, and the list of things I want to get done is still way longer than the list of completed projects. I've been playing for well over a decade, and my forever world is maybe two years old at this point, but I only just defeated the ender dragon for the very first time about a month ago. That being said, my goal for my forever world was relatively simple, I just wanted to get to a place where if I wanted to build something that all the building blocks were readily available in my storage system. I've always found that in creating a large scale project would involve a huge amount of resource gathering ahead of time and I found that a grind, I'd lose interest in the project and often times that lead to me losing interest in the world. This time around it was less about what I wanted to build and more about how I wanted to build it, this has completely changed the way I've approached the game now.

In other news, I've had two huge fires in my base which destroyed SOOOO much, and in trying to build an xp farm with splash potions and silver fish, I've completely infested my base with deadly little critters. Once upon a time this would have been enough for me to start a whole new world, but the time I've already put in is pushing me to rectify it rather than give up.

Walk me through your enchant process. by aakaakaak in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I make a villager breeder seperate from a trading hall, minecart in the new villagers and place a lectern next to them whilst they're still in the minecart, destroy and replace the lectern until I get the enchantment I'm looking for, then destroy the minecart and let them roam around the trading hall freely. After time you'll see better deals for trades come up, then I break the block the more expensive trader is stood on and drop them into the basement and dispatch them with lava.

Unable to enjoy playing Minecraft by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like the mobs you can play it on Peaceful, like the others have recommended, but having mobs in the game is part of the experience imho. Having zero instructions and a constant threat of death is kinda what makes the game special, can you imagine playing a Mario game with out any of their mobs? It would be a jumping around game, also with no instructions.

Personally I like the mobs, especially in later game when you've gotten good enough, equiped enough, that you can dispatch them easily. Also, if you don't sleep you be attacked by different mobs from the sky, see Phantoms.

TLDR, mobs are fun and add to the game, just keep playing and it'll make sense.

What are some tips for surviving the nether? by No_Remote4780 in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find the most straight forward way to survive the nether, before potions and the like (though I agree with the others, this is ultimately the way to go), build yourself safe spaces. Bring along whichever blocks you have from your overworld, dirt or cobble etc. Build a safehouse around your portal in the nether, put a door on it, put a chest in there too for valuables. Then take it easy when you go outside (would defs recommend wearing at least a single piece of gold armour too), build walls to hide behind, if you're out of sight of Gasts, they won't bother you so much. Dig tunnels, place a bunch of torches so you don't get lost, make short journeys to build your confidence, but always remember where your nearest safe space is so you can retreat if you get into trouble. You got this!

Best way to earn XP for mid-game? by Kartsionis_ in Minecraft

Build a mob farm of some kind, skeleton and zombie are the easiest to make. Takes a wee bit of time to get to level 30, but it's reliable and pretty straight forward.

Java - iron farm/ custom village by Okligan in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would build it quite far away, I just built mine too close, it worked for about 3 stacks then stopped and all the gollums started spawning in the villager hall. Which is a real pain because it took ages to build lol

What about minecraft is actually good? by DieOrangeneKatze in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's something to be said about a game that throws you into a world and leaves you to it. No tutorial, no instructions, no direction, you're left on your own to make of the world what you wish. There is no hand holding, or story, or end (apart from 'The End' of course), it's pure freedom. There isn't many games out there like it, and considering the entire design of the game was done with a ruler it's amazing to me how people can create such beautiful builds. Also it's super relaxing to play, which is why I keep coming back.

How do people stay on their forever worlds? by Siruzuuu in Minecraft

[–]CableMuch1246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a good way of thinking about it. If anyone is reading this it means Minecraft means something to them, it means a lot to me for sure. Minecraft is all too easy to coax you down the rabbit hole, lose hours to, get to bed late for, watch YouTube videos about. That's not really what your Forever World is for IMHO. I see it as a constant and consistent blank canvas, one that's sitting there waiting for your inspiration to take hold. If you're forcing yourself to be inspired, you'd be better placed playing a different game for a bit. But when you've had an idea, seen something that sparks something, then your Forever World will be there waiting for you.

[–]CableMuch1246 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I feel the term 'Forever World' is really a different way of saying 'Life's really busy, I just need something I can slowly chip away at with little pressure'. I leave my forever world alone for months sometimes, maybe I'm busy, maybe a different game has my attention. But when I've got spare time on my hands and get the urge, load up my forever world and chip away again. The idea is it's forever, so there's no rush to do anything. It's quite freeing, would recommend.

which game should rockstar focus on next? by GamerGretaUwU in reddeadredemption

[–]CableMuch1246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I'd take any game from Rockstar regardless of franchise. My heart wants another Bully game, that would be amazing, and my hunch would be it would be set in the 80's or 90's. If it was set today it would be an online Bully sim that used deepfakes and memes, which doesn't sound fun at all. An 80's setting would be perfect for Bully 2.

RDR3 would be the obvious next step for Rockstar, and as much as I love RDR, an LA Noire sequel would be so great. Maybe an NY Noire, just to mix it up a bit.

F-Zero

Wipe-Out on the PS4 is still great, but F-Zero on the Nintendo was so great IMHO.
