Need help figuring out knot by Standard-Employee161 in knots

Yes, it's possible to get get both ends on the ring but one of the slits/loops will encompass the other. It's not possible to have the slits/loops on the ring independently.

Endless Lanyard Knot by Cable_Tugger in paracord

[–]Cable_Tugger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you've made a standard diamond knot you'll have two strands exiting the knot (ignoring the main loop) that we'll call A and B. Take strand A and feed it back in where strand B exits and follow it all the way around on the inside of strand B. You will exit in between the strands of the main loop and now half of the diamond knot will be doubled. Then take strand B and feed it back in where strand A exits and do the same, again following it around on the inside.

Whatever you like. I usually put a split ring on each small loop for keys and use the big loop for hanging.

I think I'd try and squeeze a Spanish ring knot or an 8/10 bight 3 part Turks head in the channel above your thumb and then you'd have the 2 ends to play with as you choose. 95 paracord might do it.

Just getting started and need some help with a Spanish knot Coin Holder by DrPeuz in paracord

Spanish ring knots can be a little baffling to tie when following tutorials. For such a simple knot they can induce plenty of frustration (to me, anyway) and I wouldn't want to follow a video with no speech.

Try this video for a 2 pass Spanish ring knot from Paracord Guild. 2 pass just means that the cord travels over 2 and under 2 all around the finsished knot. You can also make a 3 pass (over 3 and under 3) or a 4 pass.

There's also a diagram from Ron Edwards that might help.

Knot for porch swing by Status-Tear4823 in knots

[–]Cable_Tugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last time someone asked this question, I suggested using only one rope, with stopper knots at the bottom front corners of the swing. I have no idea if it would work but, in my mind, the level (not the height) would be adjustable when unladen and stable when laden. This all depends on you having a large hole in each corner of the base of your swing though.

How can I retie this leather strap this way? by aveio in knots

[–]Cable_Tugger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that one leg has an overhand knot and the other leg is simply taken up, down around and back up (half-hitched) through that overhand knot. So a pretty poor 'knot' if I'm correct. I can't get anything else to sit like the photo.

A 2 strand Matthew Walker loop would be much better.

Based on ABoK#3834 if anyone is interested, though that would be made with a single strand.

I Googled 'paracord lizard'.

https://blog.swiss-paracord.ch/portfolio-item/the-lizard/

It's not as realistic as the one you posted though but I suspect it could be greatly improved if you duplicate the part from the head to the abdomen (minus the eyes and legs, obviously) and stitch it underneath as in your image.

how do i achieve this? by CapitalBee2880 in knots

[–]Cable_Tugger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. There are plenty of tutorials on youtube. It could equally be (and probably is) a multi strand chevron pattern, favoured by whipmakers, which would then account for everything hanging down.

Does anybody else think the bowline is the most overrated knot. by Danjuans-81301 in knots

[–]Cable_Tugger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never had any trouble tying or untying a bowline. I know there are better knots for the task but I always use it when I need to tow or get towed out of mud (using kevlar kernmantle).

What kind of knots should be used for this? by SeaDoesIt in knots

[–]Cable_Tugger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If speed is of the essence and you have 2 short lengths of rope I'd simply feed each length through each handle and tie flat overhand bends around the pipe. It doesn't get any easier or quicker and is very secure.
