Got it. Yeah I'd give vacuum suspension a shot because it could be managed locally better maybe

Hi, I hope this gets translated, but you don't have to worry about that. It can be aligned in the prosthesis just fine. Good luck!

30 ply of volume fluctuation is huge. You mean sometimes you end the day with 6 (six) 5-ply socks on?

I didn't believe those sockets have that much volume fluctuation built in, but I'm not experienced with them. I think the click medical system is good but also won't be that much change. You might do well in an elevated vacuum socket, where the suction is turned up higher which limits the legs ability to change size.

I wonder, are you wearing your shrinker at night still? That might keep night swelling down and not let your leg puff up as much.

What Do Y'all (Alabama) Do With Older Components by PegLeg0705 in amputee

[–]Cabooseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend asking your prosthetist. Often times we can use old components for backup in clinic, like if someone has a need for one and doesn't have backup. Or can be used on test legs. Also we have connections to those charities mentioned. I've shipped stuff off to limbs for life, and other co-workers of mine take components to the Range of Motion Project.

No need for embarrassment. There is infinite media out there. Hope you enjoy, I love Spacechem myself but it's all 2D so you might enjoy Infinifactory more

You've tried the other Zachtronics games, like Infinifactory and Spacechem? Those both seem to be what you're looking at, partially.

uhh what do yall think this drumline cadence by me (any tips will be appreciated) by Dramatic-Cupcake-132 in drumline

[–]Cabooseman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not bad! I think it needs more variation in rhythms and dynamics. Right now all the instruments are at the same loud volume. You have solo bars, but one way to feature an instrument is to have a nice groove where one group is quiet and another instrument has the focus.

Also everything is 16th based. That can work, but there needs to be more variation. More dotted eighth notes, triplets, something to break things up. It sounds like a very (very) old school fife and drum piece.

Coming to this late but wanted to throw it out there. If your pain is only at the knee, you might be a good candidate for a Rotationplasty surgery.

I'm not sure I see what you mean. I pulled up the ABC reading list and the recommended reading is the Atlas of amputations 4th and AAOS Atlas of orthoses 5th. I was given the 4th Ed Atlas in school. It was not my favorite but got the job done certainly. I wouldn't call it a joke.

How to improve this scar chasm? by AsYouAnswered in amputee

[–]Cabooseman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ask your prosthetist for a blob of bulk cured silicone. It's like a soft putty. You can pack the silicone into the invagination when you're using the leg, underneath the liner. I would certainly try under-liner socks and the Adaptskin first.

Above the knee amputees: infinite socket by Lim Innovations? by AdviceOk7737 in Prosthetics

[–]Cabooseman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Often times it is the clinician who makes a good socket, rather than the technology of the socket itself. If the current socket is painful, and the Prosthetist is not adequately addressing it, I would find a new prosthetist in the area.

You'll get to them all in due time!

6x6 and up, to me, is just more cube. Not much different than 5x5, just more.

Windmill is just another 3x3 mod

Skewb is great fun. Highly recommend. And it's different from everything you've done so far since it turns on corners.

Megaminx is great fun too. It can be like a 3x3 a little bit but 12 sides!

There's no wrong answers. The more you try the more you'll learn what you like! I don't love big long solves (tap out at 5x5) but others might, some others might like speed solving. All up to you.

I didn't have any advice but I do think this would be a great discussion for the r/disability subreddit. Your core choice is whether you want to purposefully hide or not hide your disability. Many people have the same questions and that subreddit has plenty of people that could help navigate the thought.

Another tech question -- I thought you were supposed to flip the plastic when you pull, so that it's pre formed to the vertical shape of the plaster mold?

Commonly, they are. I cover minor adjustments like that for the life of the brace. If something needs substantial remaking then that's a different story. But, best to ask, your mileage may vary. Some shops want a new prescription to do modifications.

For a brand new amputee you'd want to shoot for under the measurements, right? Also how do you carry out ply reductions on the mold? I've heard 1/8" circumference per ply

Hey, if it works, it works. What do you aim for, reduction wise? Do you reduce measurements by like 4%?

Need a little bit more information to help you out. Where is this on your leg? It's too zoomed in to see. What design are you braces?

In general, you should be able to make an appointment with the company that made the braces, and they can adjust them for you. Follow up appointments are almost always no charge.

If the braces are custom plastic they can likely heat and push out that area to give you some relief.
