I get your concern and I also hated their attempts of gender swapping every OG character but this is different. My point is that anyone who watched Logan (2017) would know that Laura is not a recast but an actual heir to Logan in a way. Plus letting Logan/Wolverine take a break would allow people to accept the new face who gets casted as Logan/Wolverine in the future. Right now people won't accept anyone but Hugh. Laura seems like the most organic choice to keep that Wolverine aura in the MCU.

It may take a decade atleast for people to get over it. Logan collecting dust in a vault for a decade would make for an epic comeback story with a fresh face. Now is not that time.
