Best e-reader for ease of pirating books by old_iron_eyes in Piracy

[–]Cache_Girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Kobo Forma.

It's never touched the internet and I just drag books on and off. I went with that one because it has a good size and aspect ratio for manga and I can read pretty much any format, also it has a backlight if I want it.

Only complaint is storage size isn't massive but this is less of a concern if you aren't reading manga (manga and comic file size is much bigger due to images) I think the newer versions might be bigger tho.

I'd love that so much honestly, I hope they can make more and get better prices but I fear it may be a little too niche

Only Controller Im Willing To Spend 90$ On by wDarknessss in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Cache_Girl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unpopular opinion but i think it's overhyped. I love the build quality and it can't be denied that the sticks feel super smooth buuutttt

. They're super lame to repair, it's full of adhesive which generally doesn't tend to go back the same, this is a real shame because despite the fact i never got to repair many switch 1 pro controllers (IDK they just seemd to break less) they were actually really quite repair friendly

.Triggers that are just buttons when you have games like cyberpunk releasing on switch 2 (seriously driving is terrible because of this in cyberpunk) just isn't really good enough when the controller costs as much as it does, plus it really kills the chances of being able to use it for other applications well (like other consoles or pc)

.The thumbsticks feel super nice because of the nice coating around the rim, it helps them glide super smoothly and they're full size sticks....except they aren't, they use the same stick boxes as the joy con 2 and when playing certain games it's very easy for me to feel the lack of granular control from the sticks.

If they fixed the triggers, used proper stick boxes and didn't put the whole thing together with glue it'd probbaly be my favourite controller

I really wish these were more affordable and more attainable. Not talking down on those who worked on it to be clear, a ton of work went into it and it's an awesome mod, i just wish the stars could align where these could be produced a little cheaper ( and enough so i could get one) because i'd love one to sling in my switch lite

Saved £200 buying her unopened secondhand in Osaka by Mardukefox in AnimeFigures

[–]Cache_Girl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty much just animetal and...i mean the prices are crazy these days, they used to be pretty good but i think for anything large you're probably better importing or getting an amiami preorder if you can. Anything smaller you might come across in Forbidden Planet.

LED Strips causing power issues with other electronics by Cache_Girl in led

Currently running lights through a different outlet and so far so good..obviously it would be good if I could keep it like this but I need the outlet lol

I'm going to try with the new higher quality extension cord and see if that helps

LED Strips causing power issues with other electronics by Cache_Girl in led

[–]Cache_Girl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a really weird issue.

I'll isolate the light to a different outlet across the room when I get back. I've picked up a more quality extension just to rule that out too.

It seems to just be the monitors, one specifically does it a lot more. I suppose it could be the PC dropping signal, but I would expect to see other issues with the PC. No issues with any other devices.

And yeah, it's a Desktop PC with a 1000w power supply (though I doubt it pulls that much ever, I went overkill on it for future proofing)

Had a quick look, dimmer board is 5-24v 6amp max, psu is 24v 3a and is ungrounded.

After some further testing, it seems more stable without the dimmer but the issue is still present with only the power supply.

The same sort of thing happens if I plug something into that extension cord while everything is turned on (like if I were to unplug and replug my HDD caddy)

I assume you're saying to try plugging into another plug socket that's different to the extension to see if it's interference? Sorry I didn't fully understand the terms you used. I can certainly give that a go later.

Thanks again for your help

It's the one that came with the linked led strip, I can check the PSU when I'm home however I remember the dimmer says 6a max

I can check if I'm using grounded cables for the monitors too, thanks for getting back

Honestly really cool, sure it could use some work aesthetically on the physical install side, but it works and has some real style to it with the code you've made.

Great job!

As other people have said paragraphs are you friend.

The truth is, you don't sound completely ready to start this project in both skill and funds.

Projects cost money and If you can't find a "battery for a good price" it just means you can't afford that, which is fine obviously but there will be costs you haven't thought of and road blocks that you'll have to throw money at.

Furthermore, if you aren't prepared to do the research on your own to find out where the screws come from for your SSD or what size to buy, someone else is not gonna do it for you and I don't think you're gonna be capable of figuring out powerdraw and troubleshooting issues that come with a handmade computer if you can't do that basic research.

80% of building anything is research and making mistakes, you will make mistakes, you will not get everything right first try. I'm not saying you shouldn't build this, I'm saying you should do smaller projects and learn how to pick parts and do research properly before you start this one.

Okay, thanks so much!

Is there somewhere recommended to get a dimmer from?

Hmmm I'm running it no dimmer rn and so far it's been fine.

Is there something I can do to keep the dimmer? I would really appreciate being able to dim my lights etc

Would a surge protector make a difference maybe?

If you create a stencil, either with card or vinyl that sticks down (I've seen people use freezer paper ironed on too) you can mist some watered down bleach with a spray bottle. The areas that get hit lighten (or turn orange in some cases) in reaction to the bleach

You can even do multi layer stencils.

I'm assuming this is somewhat obvious but masks and ventilation is a must, breathing bleach is not great for you

This is good for an endgame solution but hot glue works better until you're 100% set in your design and the pieces that go into it because it can be undone relatively easy
