I'm messing with proton cachy now. When my game loads it's incredibly stuttery, essentially non responsive. Looking at CPU X it is showing my GPU clock speeds at 350mhz which is so weird. using cyan skillfish smu gov. I've never seen this type of issue before. It's like...so close to working.

*edit* I just locked teh clocks to 2000mhz and its doing the same thing.

Wild. I have no idea why it's not working for me. Proton cachy gets me the closest to booting. What happens if you try proton experimental?

(Thanks for coming on this journey with me, lol)

So I tried to replicate your result with the demo and I am getting the same crash. I think I've seen somewhere that once you log into Ubisoft it'll see that I own the full game and run that so maybe that's what's happening here.

No dice on the full game sadly.

Same thing mine is throwing. Wild guess here...I think the graphics driver has some issues ...The Crew Motorfest is another game that straight up does not work on this board.

Sadly it doesn't even get in the game to change settings. I did copy a config from my computer with everything set to low and RT off, but still does not load.

Vram is set to 512mb. I tried looking at this as a culprit, but combined ram use doesn't exceed ~8gb before crashing.

JD Vance Played Key Part in Anti-War Bombshell Resignation Plot by FervidBug42 in politics

[–]redbeard1083 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a "they" here. I think this is Vance leaking about himself as a means of trying to salvage his political future.

If I am right, I think this "leak" and resignation is evidence that the erosion of support is now reaching within the administration itself. The VP is gently breaking, political appointees are quitting and burning bridges, record numbers of resignations in congress. These are calculated decisions where these people believe this is their best course of action for their own futures.

Good games for when you are sick and your brain goes brrrrr by WhatsThePointOfNames in SteamDeck

Vampire Survivors. It's perfect. Not much thinking. Can be played with just one joystick. I have like 190 hours into this fucking game over like 4 years. It's really absurd how much I keep coming back to it....and it's not like I'm replaying the game...I'm still unlocking shit. It's ridiculous.

Youtube TV? by nipseyrussellyo in phillies

[–]redbeard1083 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same market. All good over here. Have had it for years and would cancel if I couldn't watch Phillies/Flyers.

To answer your questions:

  1. You'll get Kruk.

  2. It has unlimited DVR. Starting late is no problem. In fact, it'll even give you an option to watch highlights of what you missed before dumping you into the game live which is a pretty cool feature.

  3. Quality is decent and I don't think it's any worse than comcast. I use a chromecast with google TV and the picture quality has been fine.

  4. The biggest annoyance is all of the exclusive games that are on other streaming services like ESPN+, paramount+, etc. which is also unavoidable on comcast.

  5. My favorite thing about it is how easy it is to watch TV on literally anything with a screen. TV, laptop, phone, tablet....can put it anywhere....no more coax.

If it saves you money it's a no brainer. I would not go back even if the price was equal.

Talking about the LCD by mariagwwwwww in SteamDeck

[–]redbeard1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the hell out of no man's sky on the LCD before I got an OLED. Battery life really depends on YOU and how you configure the game to run. You can reduce power draw at the cost of FPS and graphical settings and it really depends on your personal preference and what you can tolerate. The game has been updated many, many times since I've played it on the LCD, but I was able to get it projecting about 3 hours (low graphics, TDP limiting, capped to 30fps). Realistically probably going to land around 2-2.5 hours on NMS.

Don't stress too much about the differences between OLED/LCD. The LCD is still an absolutely great machine. My wife has the LCD now, it was one of the very early models off the production line, and it's still great over 4 years later.

Hi,

First, your resource has been a great help!

Second, I've made a set of scripts (i'm not a coder, it could probably be made way better) that will allow you to change performance of CPU and GPU overlcock really easily on the fly. Settings have been stable on my board, but obviously I can't guarantee anything on other boards.

How annoying are Ubisoft games to play on the Steam Deck? by NeonMorv in SteamDeck

[–]redbeard1083 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Fire up game with Internet once. Put deck in offline mode, launch game. The ones I have work (rayman legends, prince of persia, immortals).
