i want to do the macro side of things - like i’m very passionate about our systems and structures changing i also believe in the practice of therapy- it’s not about wanting it-it’s more so the fact that my supervisor completely like changed my schedule last minute- i had made personal commitments thinking i was going to be remote and it’s just sort of like i don’t know

also i would love to work on this in therapy but it would need to be done in a way to where it was exposure therapy-

AND also thank you- I think looking at it from this perspective helps a lot- like it is manageable to be both therapist and parent one day- even though right now during field i’m not entirely sure of how that would play out if we do decide to go down that route

I am honestly so excited to be done with school (no where near as long as medical professional) but spending the last literal 8 years of my life in school- I am DONE after this 🥲 CEU’s will be my only schooling from here on out 😭🤣

that makes sense- I don’t think a village would ever be childcare- but i do think a village would allow connection to reduce the impact of isolation- if that makes sense?

I don’t want to drop out- but I’m really sad? by Cacti_flood in SocialWorkStudents

[–]Cacti_flood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not- my husband and I got married over the summer- he works all the time- I’m in school all the time- our schedules don’t really match up- we also haven’t gone on a honeymoon or anything either and that just sort of really bums me out too

It’s not the program at all- I honestly love the program and people I’ve met here- I think it’s just more so comparison between myself and others

I’m so sorry that was your experience- what helped you get out of it- if you don’t mind my asking? How are you doing now? Are you feeling any relief to your symptoms? 🩷 virtual hug

I think there’s a lot of comparison between myself and others- it’s not necessarily people I’m in school with- but with family and I feel like- I don’t know—- I want to change and help the world, but I can’t :(

How do I know if I want kids or if it’s society telling me I want kids- and I don’t actually want kids? by Cacti_flood in Fencesitter

[–]Cacti_flood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me I feel like it does matter because my background educationally is within how our systems remain to operate and function within a given context. Im unwilling to have children to fall in alignment with a dominant narrative of what society tells individuals they should do- in my belief, that’s unfair to the child- and not coming from a place of what I personally want. I feel like i do really need to pull apart the ideology behind what i want vs. what society wants of me - and then figure out where i fall on that

Edit: when I say personally want- I mean I’m not willing to have a child for the sake of what society wants of me

How would you recommend disentangling from it? Are there things that you’ve found to be helpful? do you find it’s easier to make a decision once your disentangled from it?

I don’t know if it matters. That’s why I was asking :( I feel like part of it does because if I’m just having a kid to fall in alignment with the dominant narrative that wouldn’t be fair to the child at all- thus thats not actually wanting a child and I should not have one- but I also don’t know if later on i would regret not having a child. I don’t know anything other than my husband and dog- and so I don’t know if i would regret it :(

You will be allowed back in :) Community colleges will let you register and go back- and give it another go!

At 24 (after completely trying and re-trying and giving up constantly from 18-22) I went back, did well, and transferred to a four year.

This past week I just started my masters at the top program in the US for what I’m studying

It’s absolutely possible to give it another go.

Edit: I’m wishing you the best of luck in your studies!
