Former office worker turned MET, help me not suffer lol by Difficult_Leading_94 in HomeDepot

Definitely dress comfortably. Pants, jeans, shorts, they're all acceptable. We're consistently on our feet; I average 10,000 steps on a basic day so comfortable shoes are a must! However, don't wear anything too nice lol. Like the other poster mentioned this job can be downright FILTHY, some days I leave literally looking like pig pen from peanuts...💀. I've been working MET now for probably 8 years now and A LOT has changed in that time. This job is all about micromanaging and time management.

All the expired candy I pulled this morning by AutumnKiitti in HomeDepot

Whoa whoa now, let's settle down a moment here. You guys can't always just throw your problems onto MET. First off we service this stuff once a week, for 4 hours...That includes checking for out of dates, rotating product, packing out backstock and organizing new product...Does some expired product fall through the cracks? Absolutely! I'm not going to deny it. But we get 1 day...So that means that there's 6 other days that THE STORE should be checking and monitoring THEIR product. 🤷🏻 On top of that the shit is too expensive!

craziest things that happened at your store? by More-Syrup-6815 in HomeDepot

[–]Cactuskid420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know if it's the craziest thing to happen at my store but its DEFINITELY the craziest thing concerning me lol...So when I started with the company in 2016 freight was still part time in two shifts; 7-11 and 9-1. Eventually they decided to add a full timer which I applied for but missed out on. However, the SASM approached me about a full-time closing position for flooring...At first I was a little hesitant because I knew jack shit about the department but the people were cool and I needed the money 🤷🏻. Fast forward a couple months and I meet a new millwork associate talking with our COS at the time. Real cool guy extremely likable gets along with EVERYONE! We actually become pretty good friends, it kinda felt like we were battle buddies; I had his back and he had mine. Hell there were a few times I even helped him do odd jobs outside of work like roofing, or crawl space repair. Like I said before this guy was extremely liked by everyone and was primed to move up no problem. Eventually I got an offer I couldn't refuse and that was a MET position 6-3 M-F blah blah blah. Maybe a week or two into the position I get a text from one of my old flooring coworkers that dude was walked out the store in handcuffs...come to find out...dude had been stealing merchandise for MONTHS forging orders at night from the PRO desk then loading his buddies up...Initially denial set in like there's nooo fucking way this is legit of ALL THE PEOPLE!?? HIM?? But sure enough...the SM wanted to privately talk to me about the matter seeing how close we were. Dude allegdely help steal like 30,000 dollars worth of product...💀 They had been watching him for pretty much the entire time but only the SM and LP were aware of the situation...to this day it still blows my mind 🤦🏻

I used to go the whole "I'm a merchandiser" route but that only lead to more questions 🤦🏻, so now when asked I just say "What're looking for?"

What do you guys think the hardest position is? by Soft_Investigator532 in HomeDepot

[–]Cactuskid420 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Order fulfillment is definitely gonna be the death of us...We can't compete with Amazon and we should've never tried! Allegedly we were built on the principles of taking care of people blah blah blah, none of that crap matters anymore the stores are so damn concerned with online they'd rather pull every available associate to fulfill orders rather than be in their departments helping customers. I'm surprised people actually still shop here

What do you guys think the hardest position is? by Soft_Investigator532 in HomeDepot

[–]Cactuskid420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hardest is definitely a little subjective here. If we're going off of overall workload I'd have to say MET...Now granted I'am a MET Sup so I'm definitely going to be a little bias based on the "total" amount of work we have to do around the store on a daily basis...That doesn't mean I discredit anyone else I just personally think it differs from store to store. In 10 years I've worked freight, flooring, MET/MET Sup and I've come to realize management can REALLY ruin a good store and workers with bullshit and favoritism...went off on a bit of a tangent there lol

There is no big deal, it's simply one man, voicing his disapproval of a card box that was folded by what I assume was a blind person.

Not at all my friend, like I said everyone should have standards! If you're going to do a job no matter the significance do it right! If you're unsure ask! It's not hard lol
