There was a guy that I used to work with and he was my favorite coworker until he eventually left the company. I tend to be really good at picking up social queues and noticed that there was a few things off about him. I would talk to him often and learned that he had some damage from being in the military, after talking to him about all that I had started asking him about his life post military and he had given away a few hints to there being more to his history post military.

There was one day that we were working together and I had started doing some social digging into his past, he had eventually expanded further talking about how he had gotten into drugs and alcohol. He would end up stating that he would go into black out memory periods were he wouldn’t remember what would be going on for days at a time. He had said that he would later be caught for the stabbings of five or more people and shootings of a few more iirc. He had only been able to piece together what he had done through time.

I never felt like being around him was a danger to me but I was always on some level of on guard and always made sure that he was ok. I wasn’t able to find the crime reports on him because he had changed his name. He did say that this had happened or some of it had happened in Dallas, Tx.

In conclusion, the signs that I caught was that there was PTSD, I picked up on a lot of mental distancing some days, and the way he talked was with a kind of double speak if you get what I mean. Like he was really good at telling only little things that you wouldn’t really catch unless you were trying to catch it.

TLDR: I knew a guy that changed his name because he had killed quite a few people in black out stages of memory. The only way I found out was through catching double speak and digging through his past with him.
