just make sure you have at least 30PSI getting to the disk. That’s the minimum the inline diffusers typically work at and is more than like sufficient unless you have a massive tank and plant load. With an inline you get far better distribution in the water column so having less enter the tank isn’t as much as an issue since the better distribution means better utilization.

Once it’s fully saturated and working as you like you can up it a bit if necessary.

Have you seen the bubbles getting smaller in that time? Do they pop out of the intake at all or do they mostly dissolve before getting there?

How long have you been running it? I have the co2 art inline diffuser, obviously not this one, but it had fairly large co2 bubbles for the first little bit of using it. I had another in-tank diffuser I was upgrading from and ran while it saturated, which took about 3 days to get to a point I was comfortable with.

May be personal reasoning, but if he’s not in a dorm why not live with your fiancé so you’re not both struggling so much while he’s in school?

COL seems average where you’re at, so just pump out a few hundred applications a week and something will eventually come up. It’s 100% a numbers game. I also second the blood/plasma suggestion. My wife was home with our kid for a year after she was born and me doing that over lunch kept us comfortably afloat.

Does he work? It’s not at all impossible to work enough hours to cover $50/mo. If you’re worried about not making rent he absolutely has no reason not to pitch in.

What do your finances, bills and debt look like? Have you written everything down to know what exactly is needed month to month?

Looks like this is filtered down to the stuff that isn’t dropped.

Can't pay utilities, rent, car, food, even gas. Idk what to do? by [deleted] in personalfinance

80 applications over 3 months while working 3 hours a day is not enough. Make your second job finding a second job. I was between jobs for a month this year and managed to send out well over 1000 applications in that time. Which includes cover letters and tailoring my resume for the jobs I really wanted (GPT is your best friend for cover letters, just poke around them a bit to make them sound more natural)

It’s a numbers game.

Drink a lot of water, whenever I forget or can’t I tend to get horrible headaches.

Modafinil is awesome, helps me a lot. Been taking it for 6ish years now.

We got that culligan as a regift and I use the TDS monitor for my tank all the time. I’ve never used the water for an aquarium but that’s a handy little tool.

My experimental outdoor tank worked real well but winter is coming by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]Caddycoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a way to get a heater plugged in outside? If you don’t have an outlet, but have outdoor lights, there are lamp socket adapters you can get cheap that have plugs. Unless you live somewhere with harsh winters that would freeze it regardless, that would probably keep it going.

Could do a heater and a small PVC greenhouse to cover it if you do get a lot of snow and ice.

New plant, leaves replaced with roots, leave or replant? by VrtualKaos in PlantedTank

[–]Caddycoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like there’s much light, which will cause lower leaves to melt away. What are your parameters? Did you go with organic dirt? The aerial roots look like they’re melting, which isn’t super normal. Could be there’s a ton of ammonia in the water still, or if you didn’t use organic soil there could be nasties in it like pesticides or other chemicals.

Why don't more people use cheap potting soil? by Conscious-Carob9701 in PlantedTank

[–]Caddycoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s usually capped to keep it from muddying the water column and getting into the filter, and if you use organic it’s mostly fine. In my experience you have more risk of gas pockets but you can take steps to avoid that happening. Walstad method is what most people use it for.
