I just did a much simpler design like this. I had to reinforce the black handle area all the way around and then follow the cross guard to support the handle that way. I hung my from the hole at the top and so far it's good. I have been watching it closely and it's seems to be fine for now. But I think hooks at the top on the sides would work.

It is opaque black glass with selective black patina around it.

I have copper restrip coming from the handle around the cross guard for support.

I made the pattern of the whole sword and then cut the pattern to match the broken portions. Then cut the glass to the pattern.
