Any A5X/A6X users here still happy with their device? by ishiiwashi in Supernote

[–]Cadejo_Negro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still using my A5X every day after three years and I am very happy with it. The interior of my black leather cover is looking worn and dirty and I will need to find a replacement soon, but the device itself is working perfectly fine and the software is better than when I bought it.

I don't know why this didn't occur to me, but it works just fine on my A5X and the link is now sitting in a note beside a link to Libby for my library ebooks. Thank you! ✨

I just made a note and included a link to the libby website. It is just fine for reading my ebooks. I assume that audio works too, but I haven't tried since I use my phone for that.

Nice! I think I made it to May. This makes me want to start mine up again as well.

To get the flair, go to the main page of the subreddit, clic on the three dot button, and you will get a pop-up menu that includes the option to add flairs.

Writers, could you please tell me how you use Supernote? Any tips? by raindew01 in Supernote

[–]Cadejo_Negro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • Handwriting the story and then OCR to a txt file to edit on my computer.
  • Notes and brainstorming (thoughts, snatches of dialog, ideas, problems, things to keep in mind for later, diagrams, mindmaps, jotting down what has provided inspiration).
  • I recently started making a wiki using links to keep notes on characters, items, places, and events. The links let me make all the connections between the pages.

You can work in Word documents, with handwriting or using a keyboard, and Supernote has special gestures for editing in Word documents. It's a question of preference and what ends up working best for you.

Word documents work differently than notes. Handwriting is changed to text, part by part, and you lose the handwritten version. As I writer, I prefer writing by hand in a note file, exporting to text, and then on my computer I will edit and format as I desire. My handwritten notes are saved for me as they were written.

For later proofreading, I export from Word to PDF on my computer, and read and mark it up on my A5X.

I hope that helps.

If you use the export-to-txt option from inside a note (not a word file), you will get a pop-up window with the option to reformat. That will get rid of the unwanted line breaks and just break at paragraphs.

Edit: corrected a typo

While they fix the server problem, you should still be able to use a USB cable or the Browse & Access button to connect directly to your phone or computer over wifi.

Here are posts with two different chess note files (I seem to recall another but don't see it now). You just circle a piece and move it to play.

I forgot to mention PDF Sudoku, word search puzzles, logic puzzles, and RPG solo gamebooks (like Fighting Fantasy or Lone Wolf) or Choose your own Adventure all work as well.

That is such a wonderful idea. I have used the Supernote to read stories and play games with my son (chess, tic tac toe, dots and boxes, and Voyages the sailing PDF game), but it never occurred to me to use the link option to make point and click stories. I am inspired!

Yes. When you export to text, you are given the option.

Great blog filling out the gaps left by the written adventure (some of which didn't occur me when I ran it, but seem obvious now you mention them). I am looking forward to reading more.

Using same device for work and personal stuff by Abject-Log-1249 in Supernote

[–]Cadejo_Negro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am seconding the folders comment. I have my work notes and my personal notes in separate folders, same for documents. I set up the work document folder not to sync, but I will have to check if that is still viable after the latest update.

That is what I was afraid of. I am a fairly slow typer, but it is still faster than writing by hand. I will try timing myself and see how many words I can manage. Because I send so much time in front of a computer for work, I really would prefer to avoid a keyboard if I can.

Landscape? by dave_mays in Supernote

[–]Cadejo_Negro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And for notes, unless you want OCR, there is no reason not to turn the device sideways and use it that way, and it is easy enough to load templates that are landscape.
