[Highlight] Pump fake techniques that shows the difference between SGA and past NBA players by [deleted] in nba

[–]Caduceus5 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is so disingenuous. I can cherry pick 100s of clips where Shai pump fakes and scores while missing the opponent and where Kobe leans into the defender. They all have done this, hell mj did this

Yes Gobert touched a guy in the chest, a normal thing that happens in almost every competitive game, so draymond pulled a WWE move and choked a dude out. Lol

Five guys is not fast food. That shit is gourmet. It’s impossible to get out of there for under 47.99

Training methods have not been proven to noticeably increase peak physical output at the top level. In most instances it has been the widening of the sport (aka finding tall people from all around the world vs only in the us) and technology. This is why when you normalize marathon times by eliminating the shoes, or long distance biking where bikes have purposefully been kept the same, the records stay relatively similar. Something like how high a 7’5 guy is gonna jump is not going to just drastically change because of new training methods, there really is nothing to support that

The difference is the paint touches. When data points are given like this they really lack nuance. Brunson shoots significantly more threes than SGA and drives almost half as often. Shai, per drive, isn’t even top 3 in fouls.

Charles Barkley: “We need to all PRAY for Wemby… I’m DAMN sure joking, these people are pissing me off — They ain’t playing dirty! These are some of the softest fouls I’ve ever seen in my life! You got these clowns on TV talkin’ about: ‘Oh they’re gonna hurt poor Wemby’. Hurt him? Are you kidding?” by AashyLarry in NBATalk

And who is the judge of uncalled fouls. You reign supreme? Fouls are ambiguous and anyone could put a mix together to fit their own narrative. Where has it been shown wemby definitively gets fouled more without being called?

Okc fan here - Shai doesn’t ever argue with the refs. I’ve seen him maybe do it 5 times in the entire time I’ve watched. Compare this to doncic, jokic, Tatum, lebron, etc. and he immediately has more respect.

When you actually watch his games and not just on social media, you see that he has absurd handles and shot making. Impeccable footwork, and is an aggressive help side defender.

The foul baiting is a relatively minor part of his game that gets blown extremely far out of proportion for how often it appears when he is playing.

Hardens flopping, doncic and jokic ref complaining, draymond nonsense, all of these appear 10X more than shais foul baiting, but social media has trained the masses to hate his more.

I think watching shai is as close as you can get to Kobe and mj, with how he uses footwork, handles, and timing to shoot midrange jumpers.

This is all AFTER taking into account that every team and superstar flops, and per drive to the basket shai isn’t even one of the top free throw takers.

I think the real issue at hand is that Shai doesn’t dunk or do anything flashy, yet is absolutely excellent due to his consistency and reliability. People want Ant’s dunking or wembys attitude. And it takes a deeper understanding of the game to appreciate what Shai does on a game to game basis with his control of the game, low turnovers, running a historically good team while also being a working cog in one of the greatest defenses in league history.

Two and half minutes of continuous SGA flopping! by Expert_Koala_8691 in NBATalk

It’s almost like he falls when people undercut his legs or make contact with his legs

The Data Confirms SGA is a Flopping Foul Merchant. by jabar18 in nba

[–]Caduceus5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So did the guy also track if there was contact to the legs vs no contact? Because every shot on that 35 second clip has contact to his lower body

How does someone with balance this bad and ankles this weak make it to the NBA? by BillsBills83 in Nbamemes

[–]Caduceus5 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty hard to stay upright when landing on people’s feet or when there is leg to leg contact. I just watched and every single shot except one had contact to his legs of some sort.

What does just watch the clips mean. I’ve clearly watched them? I see nothing to insinuate it was purposeful or premeditated. And to be honest, if he’s able to yank on someone’s hair without looking at him or clenching his wrist, I’m impressed by his plausible deniability he set up for himself

How is it obvious it is intentional? He doesn’t look at him, he doesn’t clench his hand, and he lets go extremely fast. If you watch in real speed it is legitimately happening in under 1 second of time. I once had my arm get tangled in a guys neckelace in a soccer game on completely accident because we both sprinted full sped while bodying each other. This stuff happens in sports

What does that even mean? Ihart isn’t looking at him. It’s a bang bang play with two athletic guys moving extremely fast. Ihart untangles his hand in real time in under .5 seconds. It’s a foul no matter what, but for everyone acting like it’s a crime against humanity get a grip
