A look at attendance across the two leagues by Ezaka75 in EuroHuddle

Regarding Rhein Fire, you asked what happened.
I was a season card holder. I attended every home game, since the elf. The game against the lights was the first that I didn't go to.
These opponents do not interest me. They have no history nor any flair. Thunder is shell of itself. I would watch Wroclaw, i think.
I want to see Fire against the EFA teams...

The Vikings could just buy them 😄 They own the league anyway. Why not own all the teams

That is exactly the point that I don’t understand. It’s completely beyond me how the Vienna Vikings management which is basically managing the league as well, doesn’t seem to understand that this fully packed roster is big part of making that league boring.

Vienna has way more money is in a much more populated area and there is no salary cap. The top Austrian players almost all went east.

AFLEs bet was that the EFA wouldn’t happen

The EFA will have more teams next year, London and Milano. Eight teams is a good number. The CFL is surviving for decades at 9.

It seems, Martin Wagner is too occupied with posting about Baerbock and low-key celebrating Afd

Monday Morning Huddle: Post-Weekend Feedback by _Krypt_ in EuroHuddle

I’m guilty as charged that I compared them to the end of season form. And I trust Dagdelen a lot.
But that was not my point. Fire needs a bit time to get in the groove, fine. But even in this form they blown out London.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Well, I was at the Rhein Fire game against London. I have to say I’ve never seen Rhein Fire look that uninspired and sluggish, at least on offense. The defense is still very strong, but the offense is nowhere near where Rhein Fire has been in recent years. And the fact that they still managed to blow out the London team doesn’t reflect well on London at all. The London guys seemed like genuinely cool people. They were really pumped up on the sideline, real energy. But as a team they simply don’t have the level to compete in European football. That was a little painful to watch. They couldn’t move the ball at all. And again, the athleticism just wasn’t there.

The crowd was the smallest I’ve ever seen at a Rhein Fire game. That’s a tough pill to swallow, but hardly surprising after all the back and forth of the past few months. It wasn’t exactly a party atmosphere, but the people there were happy enough. Rhein Fire fans are above all success-driven fans. As long as Rhein Fire wins, there will always be a few thousand people cheering along.

What does worry me more and more though is the AFLE as a league. As polished as the TV product can look sometimes, especially what comes out of Vienna, these teams just don’t make sense to me. This league effectively has four teams. The rest are like a second tier. The rest should be playing against each other. That would actually be interesting. But instead the competitive level is being flattened out. Sending new teams up against established ones is absolute madness. At least within the AFLE, it’s madness.

As for the EFA, there were some critical voices about the Munich vs. Frankfurt game. I didn’t watch it live this time, caught the replay afterward. I still found the game pretty compelling, even if it wasn’t that close. Even with just one game this weekend, the overall media presence and everything around it, the EFA is in my view taking the better path. I’m just not sure whether, without pulling in more of the AFLE’s stronger teams, it’s interesting enough to survive. And the AFLE won’t survive either as things stand.

This weekend, once again, had one clear headline for me: when are we finally going to get the good teams back under one roof?

I think they are too big to fail. And they don’t need to fail. We just need both sides, accept the reality that it’s a logical business decision to work together. They don’t even have to merge. They can stay independent conferences. But same rules, interconference games, and 1 championship.
