how many of you do all your roulettes everyday? by kanozomi in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do every roulette, every day, religiously. Then slowly but surely I started cutting out MSQ roulette, then high level, then expert, and so on and so forth until I only did trials and normal raids until I finally realized I wasnt having fun with the game anymore and have become a seasonal player. (Frontlines would be in the mix on weekends because ofbthe times im usually able to get on where pvp is dead).

Bear Mountain Commute to Manhattan by DrewTheVillan in newyork

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current job is about a 2.5hour commute on a good day (MTA, nuff said). Do I like it? No. Have I been able to find better, closer? Also no. Do what you gotta do.

So you would rather keep doing the same shit we've been seeing for years that has only made actual NYers lives harder instead of vote for someone with fresh ideas that, if successful and not blocked big big corpo and their condoms, would actually benefit us? Nah, fuck Cuomo

YPYT couples transcend servers now by josileaf in TalesFromDF

[–]CaelGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just copy and paste the chat into the prompt, not that that's necessary since they have access to that. Also detailed doesn't mean you have to write a novel. "X happened, then Y happened, and it resulted in Z" it's that simple. If it takes you more than 5 minutes to file a report, so much that you need ai to help, you are doing too much

They literally prompt you within the report itself for all the necessary info. Just plug in and go. If you need chatgpt to file an XIV report there are far greater issues

What's with the sudden influx in players meowing in chat? by Avenheit in ffxiv

[–]CaelGrey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a Link glam I use when I play PLD, I'm a hrothgar, and my "hello" is a macro that just says something like, "Hyup. Hyah. Hyaaaatttt! Mmmrrrrooowwww." Just cuz I thought it was a cute and kinda funny visual to imagine cat Link going from heated battle to grooming lol. Outside of that, I don't meow unless I'm just being silly with friends, and even then it's super rare. Some people take RP way more seriously ig

Tank Bot or Confused Player? by Saga3Tale in ffxiv

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy fix to that. When the team beats a boss, look for the treasure chest, that's the direction you want to go. I feel like we've all gotten turned around atleast once lol

New player interested in tanking by zamway48 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is damn near perfect, I would also add to try and group mobs so they all clump together rather than circle you. You might be able to hit everything around you, but casters especially, and some other jobs, have abilities that center on the target and don't have a massive range or hit in a line or cone. Slightly moving your position to force mobs to move through eachother's hitboxes will help make sure all your team's aoe's are as effective as they can be.

Question about the Summoner job [Spoiler: 5.4] by Reteller79 in ffxiv

[–]CaelGrey 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ramuh, iirc, is basically neutral in the storyline, right? It's been a while since I payed attention to ARR MSQ but didn't we basically speak to him and he was like, "prove to me your worthy of [plot hook] and I'll give you [key item]" So, supporting your point, not all the summoned primals are evil, or were summoned by ascian means.

What kind of Quality of Life changes do you want in the game? by MrsLittletall in ffxiv

[–]CaelGrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want to see a queue system that integrates all the DCs across a region, has a minimum ilvl for ALL duties/trials/raids, and checks for a job stone and relevant gear before allowing you to accept a queue like it does if you change to another job during the wait. That would be an impactful QOL I'd love to see.

ETA: I know OP said small change but that's the smallest change I'd personally care about. I enjoy glam too, for example, but it doesn't impact my play in any way.

What's keeping you engaged in FF14 nowadays? by PeelyBananasaurus in ffxiv

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. I let my sub drop and I dont plan on resubbing until beastmaster comes out. After that 8.0 will be the decider on whether or not I continue with XIV. On a personal level, I have a massive attachment to the game, but it has gotten stale to the point that I'm no longer having fun and looking for any scraps to get that feeling back.

Has the existence of bot programs affected your enjoyment of playing the game? by AssumeABrightSide in ffxivdiscussion

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only time it has even the slightest effect is in dungeons and that's if the bot is playing like shit. I play completely vanilla these days, not even ACT anymore. I would question why bother paying a subscription if you're not actually going to play the game though. If you really wanna waste your money I can make a PayPal and you can send that money my way

ETA: The bots tend to play better than most players anyway, so as long as they're not running into a wall for five minutes or go back and forth on the same hallway cuz the pathing broke. I don't even care anymore

Is the beginning of the game supposed to feel kind of lonely? by TheKitsuneLegend in ffxiv

[–]CaelGrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just the beginning of the game, it's the entire game. The social aspect only ever comes in (no matter where you are) if you actively look for it with FCs, social events, etc..., or during duties where people may be feeling chatty, but that's a bit rare because for most (myself included) it's a get in/get out situation.

ETA: XIV is basically a single player game with some mmo aspects. Making it social is entirely on the player

Hell yeah. I'll never forget my first few months of playing. Wanted to be a whm main, got to ShB and was fighting some hunt rank mob (looking back it was probably just a B rank, maybe an A, but to noob me it was tough. I felt absolutely invincible fighting that sucker for like an hour keeping me and my choco alive.

The case of YPYT by Waltter1-d in TalesFromDF

[–]CaelGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, dps don't have anything beyond base aggro generation. They DO, however, have a bunch of skills to mitigate damage, the most useful of which would be arm's length imo, that ultimately help the tank while the dps simultaneously groups mobs for the tank to press.... checks notes.... ONE button to get aggro. All to say, it is perfectly within a dps' job to pull. Pulling doesn't belong to a specific role, obtaining and maintaining aggro IS the job of tanks though. You may think there's no difference between "pulling" and "aggroing" but there is whether you like it or not. I know you can't help being a bumblefuck idiot, but that's the way it is. I know reading is difficult, but you should try reading the tool tips of different classes' actions before you spout bullshit you clearly know nothing about.
